Toyota Kirloskar Motor runs its Indian manufacturing at Bidadi, in Ramanagara district of Karnataka, and has done since production began in December 1999. A second manufacturing site in Maharashtra was confirmed in May 2026, with production due to start in the first half of 2029.

But the reason this guide matters more than most is not the plants. It is the Toyota Technical Training Institute, which sits inside the Bidadi plant premises and has been running since 2007.

TTTI takes candidates straight out of school, trains them for two or three years in automobile assembly, paint, weld or mechatronics on the Toyota Production System, and places graduates into production roles as Sub Line Leaders. For a 10th-pass student in Karnataka, it is one of the most direct routes into a major manufacturing career available anywhere in India.

This guide covers the plants, the training routes, eligibility, realistic pay and how to apply. It is a career guide, not a vacancy notice.

Industry Overview

Toyota’s Indian operation is smaller by volume than Maruti Suzuki or Hyundai, but it carries disproportionate influence because of how it trains people. The Toyota Production System is the origin of most modern manufacturing practice, and experience inside a Toyota plant is a recognised credential across the whole sector.

The Company

Toyota Kirloskar Motor was incorporated on 6 October 1997 as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and the Kirloskar group, with production beginning in December 1999. It is an unlisted private company with paid-up capital of ₹700 crore, headed by Masakazu Yoshimura as Managing Director and CEO.

Because the company is unlisted, it publishes no annual sustainability report with a workforce breakdown, and no employee headcount or turnover figure is publicly available from a company source. Any specific TKM employee number you see quoted is not verified.

The Bidadi Plants

Toyota operates two manufacturing plants at Bidadi in Ramanagara district, roughly 30 kilometres from Bengaluru. The site is organised into the four standard shops — Press, Weld, Paint and Assembly — and achieved ISO 14001 certification in its first year of operations.

Published capacity figures for Bidadi have moved as the site expanded. The Karnataka government’s investment portal cites up to 320,000 vehicles a year. A figure of 342,000 was reported in July 2024. By May 2026 the site was reported at 552,000 units a year.

Use the most recent figure with its date attached. Capacity at this site has genuinely been growing, and older numbers are not wrong so much as out of date.

A Third Karnataka Plant

In November 2023 Toyota announced a ₹3,300 crore investment in a third plant in Karnataka, adding 100,000 units a year on two shifts, with production to begin by 2026. Reporting at the time indicated it would bring more than 2,000 direct jobs.

The company has not published a commissioning confirmation. The jump in reported Bidadi capacity to 552,000 by May 2026 suggests significant capacity has come on stream, but the reconciliation is not officially stated.

Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts

A related manufacturing operation, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, has been in production since July 2002, making axles, propeller shafts and transmissions. It is a separate employer within the same group and worth knowing about, because driveline manufacturing uses a different skill mix from vehicle assembly.

Current Demand

Toyota’s Indian volumes have grown sharply, and it has committed to a second manufacturing state for the first time.

Volume Growth

In FY2024-25 Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 337,148 units, up 28% from 263,512 the previous year — growth attributed to SUVs, MPVs, hybrids and exports. Calendar year 2024 sales of 326,329 units were up 40% on 2023.

Monthly figures have continued to rise. May 2026 saw 33,128 units, up 7%, and June 2026 saw 31,016 units, of which 28,441 were domestic and 2,575 exports. The company crossed 300,000 cumulative strong-hybrid vehicles in May 2026.

Volume growth of that scale requires people. It is the most reliable indicator of hiring demand at a company that does not publish headcount.

The Maharashtra Plant

This developed in two stages, and the two should not be confused.

DateWhat was announcedInvestmentCapacityJobs
31 July 2024MoU with the Government of Maharashtra for a site at AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, across 850 acres₹20,000 crore400,000 electric and hybrid vehicles a year8,000 direct and 8,000 indirect
11 May 2026Confirmed plant at Bidkin Industrial Area, Maharashtra, with stamping, welding, painting and assembly on siteNot disclosed by TKM; Japanese media reported around US$1.9 billion by the parent company100,000 vehicles a yearAround 2,800

The confirmed 2026 scope is considerably smaller than the 2024 memorandum. Treat them as two separate announcements rather than one project, and work from the confirmed figures.

Production is due to start in the first half of 2029, building a new SUV model. That is a long way out. Recruitment for a plant of that scale typically begins two years or so before start of production, so realistic hiring is a 2027 and 2028 story.

What Is Not Published

Toyota Kirloskar Motor does not publish an employee count, a turnover figure or production volumes as company data. The Karnataka government’s investment portal states that TKM has created more than 10,000 jobs across its group companies, suppliers and dealer partners — an ecosystem figure rather than a direct headcount.

There is also no published TKM recruitment notification, walk-in schedule or vacancy count for 2026. If you encounter one, it is not from the company.

Job Roles

Toyota organises its Bidadi operation into four shops. That structure is officially published and is the clearest role map available for any manufacturer in this series.

The Four Shops

  • Press Shop — stamping body panels from steel coil
  • Weld Shop — robotic and manual welding to build the body-in-white
  • Paint Shop — pre-treatment, primer, base and clear coat, inspection
  • Assembly Shop — trim, chassis and final assembly

Those four shops map directly onto the four trades taught at the Toyota Technical Training Institute, which is not a coincidence — the institute exists to staff them.

Production Roles

  • Press Shop Operator
  • Weld Shop Operator
  • Paint Shop Operator
  • Assembly Line Operator
  • Sub Line Leader — the production role TTTI graduates are placed into, and the first step on the supervisory ladder
  • Material Handling and Logistics Operator

Driveline and Component Roles

At Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts, the work centres on axles, propeller shafts and transmissions.

  • Machine Shop Operator — gear and shaft machining
  • Transmission Assembly Operator
  • Axle Assembly Operator
  • Heat Treatment Operator

Quality and Maintenance Roles

  • Quality Inspector — in-process and end-of-line
  • Metrology Technician
  • Vehicle Test Technician
  • Maintenance Technician — mechanical, electrical and instrumentation streams
  • Robotics and Automation Technician
  • Utilities Operator

Supervisory and Staff Roles

  • Team Leader and Group Leader
  • Production and Process Engineer
  • EHS Officer
  • Stores, Dispatch and Supply Chain roles

Daily Responsibilities

Toyota plants are the origin of most of the practices other manufacturers copy, and the daily discipline reflects that.

A Typical Line Operator Shift

The shift opens with a handover, a safety briefing and a check of tools and torque equipment. The line runs to a fixed takt time, and each operator completes a defined sequence of standard work before the vehicle advances.

Two features are more pronounced at Toyota than elsewhere. The first is standard work — every operation is documented to a level of detail that leaves little room for personal variation. The second is the andon system: operators are expected to stop the line when something is wrong, rather than pass a defect downstream. Managers actively want the cord pulled.

For a new operator that takes adjusting to. In many workplaces stopping production is discouraged. Here it is the correct behaviour.

A Typical Maintenance Shift

Maintenance teams work preventive schedules during planned stoppages and respond to breakdowns during running hours. Toyota’s approach emphasises preventing failures rather than reacting well to them, so a large share of the role is scheduled condition monitoring.

A Typical Quality Shift

Quality staff run in-process audits, end-of-line inspection and rectification, log defects, trace them to a station or supplier, and support root-cause investigation.

Toyota’s built-in-quality philosophy pushes inspection responsibility onto the operator at each station, which means quality staff spend proportionally more time on analysis and countermeasures than on sorting defects.

Working Conditions to Expect

  • Rotational shifts covering the full day
  • Fixed takt times and highly documented standard work
  • Mandatory safety shoes, gloves, ear and eye protection
  • Standing work for most of the shift
  • Company transport and canteen, standard at plants of this scale
  • Strong environmental systems — ISO 14001 certified since the plant’s first year

Required Skills

Toyota screens for attitude and consistency as much as technical knowledge, and it says so — TTTI’s stated aim is the development of knowledge, skill, body and attitude.

Technical Skills

  • Reading work instructions, standard operating procedures and basic drawings
  • Correct use of torque wrenches, nut runners and hand tools
  • Measurement with vernier caliper, micrometer and gauges
  • Basic pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical safety
  • Accurate recording of production and quality data
  • Understanding of the Toyota Production System — just-in-time, jidoka, kaizen, standard work, poka-yoke

That last point genuinely differentiates candidates here. TPS terminology is the working vocabulary of the shop floor, not corporate decoration.

Safety and Compliance

  • Correct PPE use without prompting
  • Lockout-tagout discipline before machine intervention
  • Willingness to stop the line and escalate rather than work around a problem
  • Emergency response familiarity
  • Honest near-miss reporting

Language and Location

Kannada is the working language at Bidadi. Hindi is useful with colleagues from other states, and functional English matters because work instructions, quality records and system screens are in English.

Bidadi sits around 30 kilometres from Bengaluru on the Mysuru road. Many employees commute from Bengaluru’s western and southern suburbs, Ramanagara and Channapatna. Factor travel time into any offer.

Personal Qualities That Get You Hired

  • Attendance discipline, tracked closely and weighted heavily
  • Willingness to work rotational shifts
  • Physical fitness for standing work at a fixed takt
  • Consistency — doing the standard work exactly, every cycle
  • Willingness to suggest improvements, which is a formal expectation rather than optional

Education Requirements

This is the section where Toyota differs most from every other manufacturer in this series, because of TTTI.

After 10th Standard — the TTTI Route

The Toyota Technical Training Institute was established in 2007 and operates inside the Bidadi plant premises. It runs two-year and three-year programmes in four trades:

  • Automobile Assembly
  • Automobile Paint
  • Automobile Weld
  • Mechatronics

The curriculum is built on the Toyota Production System, and the institute describes its purpose as holistic development of knowledge, skill, body and attitude. Graduates are hired as Sub Line Leaders in production departments — at Toyota and elsewhere — and the institute describes them as ready for employment from day one.

The published student accounts reference completing SSLC, so Class 10 appears to be the entry level. Toyota’s page mentions fellowship and merit support, but does not publish the exact fee position, stipend amount, intake per batch, cut-off marks or admission dates.

That means one thing practically: check the official TTTI page directly for the current admission cycle rather than relying on any third-party listing.

The Standard ITI Route

If TTTI is not accessible to you, a Government ITI remains the mainstream path. Toyota does not publish a trade list, so the table below reflects the trades designated for automotive manufacturing under the Directorate General of Training.

Diploma and Degree Routes

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile or Mechatronics — technician and junior engineering roles
  • B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics or Production — engineering roles in manufacturing and quality

Toyota does not publish a named graduate engineer trainee or diploma trainee scheme. Openings appear on the careers portal rather than through an annual campus announcement.

Professional Certifications

The trade qualification decides eligibility. Everything else improves your position.

Core Certification

  • TTTI certification — Toyota’s own institute qualification, which carries direct placement into Sub Line Leader roles
  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) — from a Government ITI under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, with NCVT or SCVT marking
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) — on completing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961

Safety Certifications

  • Industrial safety certificate or diploma
  • First aid and fire safety training
  • Forklift and material handling equipment licences
  • High-voltage safety training, relevant for hybrid and electric powertrain work

Quality and Process Certifications

  • IATF 16949 awareness, the automotive quality management standard
  • ISO 9001 internal auditor training
  • ISO 14001 environmental management awareness — Toyota has held it at Bidadi since the plant’s first year
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt

Skills Worth Adding on Your Own

Beyond computer literacy, the highest-return thing you can study before applying to Toyota is the Toyota Production System itself. Understanding just-in-time, jidoka, kaizen, standard work and poka-yoke before you walk in is a genuine differentiator, and the material is freely available.

Training Programs

Toyota runs more published training infrastructure in India than any other manufacturer in this series.

Toyota Technical Training Institute

Established in 2007 and located inside the Bidadi plant, TTTI offers two-year and three-year programmes in Automobile Assembly, Automobile Paint, Automobile Weld and Mechatronics, built on the Toyota Production System.

Graduates are placed as Sub Line Leaders in production departments. The institute mentions fellowship and merit support but does not publish fee details, stipend amounts, intake size, cut-off marks or admission dates. Check the official TTTI page for the current cycle.

If you are a Class 10 student in Karnataka considering your options, this is a route worth investigating seriously. Training inside a working Toyota plant, on Toyota’s own system, with placement into a named production role, is not something most manufacturers offer.

Toyota Technical Education Program

T-TEP is a partnership with technical training institutes across India covering automotive service technology. Toyota states that over 12,000 students have benefited, more than 1,000 are currently under training, and over 70% have been placed in automobile companies and dealerships.

Note the orientation. T-TEP is service technology, which points toward dealership and workshop careers rather than plant production. Both are real paths — know which one you are on.

The Maharashtra ITI Partnership

Signed on 20 November 2025 with Maharashtra’s Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, this programme will equip 45 ITIs across Maharashtra with automotive training labs for the Light Motor Vehicle Technician trade, benefiting around 8,000 ITI students.

Toyota is funding the labs and running instructor training. Thirteen labs were due to be operational by March 2026, with the remainder over two further phases across five years.

For an ITI student in Maharashtra, this is directly relevant — particularly with Toyota’s own Bidkin plant coming in 2029.

Overall Skilling Scale

The Karnataka government’s investment portal states that Toyota has upskilled over 200,000 youth through partnerships with more than 100 institutions.

Apprenticeship Stipend Rates

Where apprenticeships are offered by any employer in India, statutory minimum stipends apply. Following the revision effective September 2025:

CategoryMinimum monthly stipend
Class 10 pass-outs₹8,200
Class 12 pass-outs₹9,600
ITI / National or State Certificate holders₹9,600
Vocational or 2-year diploma holders₹9,600
Technician (diploma) apprentices₹10,900
Graduate and degree apprentices₹12,300

Salary Guide

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is unlisted and publishes no pay bands, turnover or workforce data. This section states only what can be supported.

What Is Documented

Apprentice stipends carry the statutory minimums above. TTTI’s fellowship or stipend arrangements are not published in figures.

Permanent workmen are covered by Karnataka minimum wage notifications and, where union agreements exist, by wage settlements that are not published.

Indicative Ranges by Role

The ranges below are broad indicative figures for passenger vehicle manufacturing in India generally. They are not Toyota figures and should be confirmed at interview.

RoleIndicative annual range (CTC)
Apprentice or trainee (stipend basis)₹1.15 – ₹1.5 lakh
Contract or temporary operator₹1.8 – ₹2.8 lakh
Permanent line operator₹2.5 – ₹4.5 lakh
Sub Line Leader₹3.0 – ₹5.0 lakh
Maintenance technician₹3.0 – ₹5.5 lakh
Robotics / automation technician₹3.5 – ₹6.0 lakh
Quality inspector₹2.8 – ₹5.0 lakh
Team leader / group leader₹4.5 – ₹8.0 lakh
Graduate engineer₹6.0 – ₹12.0 lakh

Be sceptical of specific Toyota salary claims online. The company publishes nothing, so any precise figure attributed to it is estimated at best.

What Actually Increases Your Pay

  • Conversion from contract or trainee status to the permanent rolls
  • The TTTI route itself, which starts you at Sub Line Leader rather than plain operator
  • Multi-skilling across shops, particularly into maintenance or robotics
  • Hybrid and high-voltage competence, given Toyota’s strong-hybrid focus
  • Shift allowances, overtime and production incentives
  • Promotion into team leader and group leader grades

Employee Benefits

Toyota plants are organised-sector employers, so a substantial part of the package is statutory.

Statutory Benefits

  • Provident Fund (EPF) — employer and employee contributions
  • Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) — medical cover below the wage threshold
  • Gratuity — payable after five years of continuous service
  • Paid leave — earned, casual and sick leave under the Factories Act and Karnataka rules
  • Bonus — under the Payment of Bonus Act, where applicable
  • Maternity benefit — under the Maternity Benefit Act

Common Plant Benefits

Large automotive plants in India typically provide subsidised canteen meals, company transport from surrounding towns, uniforms and full protective equipment, group medical insurance, shift allowances and production or attendance incentives.

Toyota also publishes strong governance and grievance infrastructure, including an ombudsman and whistleblower channel with a dedicated toll-free number and email — a useful signal for anyone weighing an employer.

What to Confirm Before Accepting

  • Whether the role is trainee, contract, fixed-term or permanent
  • Whether the contract is directly with TKM or through a manpower contractor
  • Whether the figure quoted is stipend, gross, CTC or take-home
  • Transport route and pickup point from where you live
  • Shift pattern and how shift allowance is calculated
  • Criteria and timeline for conversion to permanent

Career Progression

Toyota uses its own grade nomenclature, and the ladder is unusually visible because the training institute names its placement grade explicitly.

The Shop-Floor Ladder

StageTypical durationRole
EntryYear 0–1Trainee, apprentice or contract operator
ConfirmedYear 1–3Permanent operator; TTTI graduates enter as Sub Line Leader
Multi-skilledYear 3–7Senior operator, relief operator, maintenance technician
SupervisoryYear 7–12Team leader, group leader
ManagementYear 12+Section head, assistant manager, shop functions

The TTTI Head Start

This is the practical reason the institute matters. A TTTI graduate is placed as a Sub Line Leader rather than as a plain operator — a step above the standard entry grade, with training already aligned to Toyota’s systems.

Over a career that head start compounds, because supervisory selection tends to draw from people already carrying some responsibility.

The Kaizen Culture

At Toyota, improvement suggestion activity and quality circles are not optional extras. They are formal, tracked processes, and participation genuinely feeds into how people are assessed for advancement.

If you join, engage with them from the first month. It is the cheapest way to become visible.

Two States, Eventually

With the Bidkin plant in Maharashtra due to produce from 2029, Toyota will have manufacturing in two states for the first time. That opens internal transfer as a career route, and creates demand for experienced people to seed the new site — a reason to join Bidadi now if Maharashtra is where you eventually want to be.

Top Employers

Bidadi sits inside the Bengaluru manufacturing belt, one of India’s strongest industrial clusters.

Manufacturers in the Karnataka Belt

  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts — Bidadi, Ramanagara district
  • Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India — Narsapura, Kolar district
  • TVS Motor — Mysuru, Karnataka and Hosur just across the Tamil Nadu border
  • Kia India — Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh, on the northern corridor
  • Volvo, Ashok Leyland, Bosch and Ather Energy — around Bengaluru
  • Aerospace and defence manufacturers — a major Bengaluru cluster

Elsewhere in India

  • Maruti Suzuki — Haryana and Gujarat
  • Tata Motors — seven states
  • Hyundai Motor India — Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra
  • Mahindra & Mahindra — six states
  • Honda Cars India — Rajasthan

The Supplier Base

Toyota’s Karnataka operation is supported by a supplier ecosystem, and the Karnataka government cites more than 10,000 jobs across group companies, suppliers and dealer partners. Component manufacturers hire more ITI holders than assembly plants do and are usually easier to enter — a sensible parallel route.

How to Apply to Toyota

Applications go through the official portal at careers.toyotabharat.com. For the training institute, the relevant page is the TTTI section of the company website.

Apprenticeship candidates should also register on the government’s National Apprenticeship portal.

How to Spot Fake Toyota Job Offers

Toyota publishes one of the clearest fraud warnings of any manufacturer in this series, on both its careers portal and its announcements page. The key line is direct: Toyota does not ask or collect any amounts of money from job applicants at any stage of the recruitment process.

The notices warn specifically about scammers operating via WhatsApp, email and social media who request deposits for interviews, and about people claiming to be Toyota employees who ask for money for securing employment or as a deposit towards travel. A separate notice covers a scam involving Toyota Motor Asia Pacific in Singapore, using deposits for interview travel or employment-pass applications.

Treat it as fraudulent if:

  • Any money is requested at any stage — Toyota’s own wording covers this completely
  • You are asked for a deposit towards interview travel or a work permit
  • Contact happens only through WhatsApp, Telegram or social media direct messages
  • An offer letter arrives before any assessment or interview
  • The email is from Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook rather than a company domain
  • A specific “Toyota recruitment 2026 notification”, vacancy count or walk-in date is quoted — Toyota publishes none
  • The apply link is a Google Form, a Telegram channel or a shortened URL

Verify like this:

  • Check careers.toyotabharat.com and toyotabharat.com directly before responding
  • Toyota directs candidates to verify through its website or official HR division
  • Remember that no genuine employer in India charges a candidate for a job

If money is demanded, report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call the cyber crime helpline 1930.

Industries Hiring

Toyota experience transfers exceptionally well, because so much of Indian manufacturing runs on systems Toyota originated.

Directly Related Sectors

  • Auto component manufacturing, including driveline and transmission specialists
  • Two-wheeler manufacturing across the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu belt
  • Commercial vehicle manufacturing
  • Electric vehicle and battery assembly
  • Tyre and rubber goods manufacturing

Broader Manufacturing

  • Aerospace and defence components, a major Bengaluru sector
  • Electronics manufacturing
  • Industrial machinery and capital goods
  • Precision machining and heat treatment operations
  • White goods and consumer durables

Services and Consulting

One route worth knowing about. People with genuine Toyota Production System experience are actively recruited by lean manufacturing consultancies and by other manufacturers setting up TPS-style systems. That is a distinctive career option this employer opens up.

  • Lean manufacturing and operational excellence consulting
  • Vehicle dealership service workshops, including through T-TEP
  • Plant maintenance and facility management contractors
  • Industrial safety and quality auditing
  • ITIs, polytechnics and training institutes, as instructors

Technology Used

Toyota’s technology story is less about exotic equipment and more about how conventional equipment is operated.

Production Technology

  • Press lines for body panel stamping
  • Robotic welding lines for body-in-white
  • Automated paint shops
  • Conveyor-based assembly running to fixed takt
  • Driveline machining and assembly at Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts
  • Hybrid powertrain assembly, given Toyota’s strong-hybrid focus in India

The Toyota Production System

This is the technology that actually matters here, and it is worth understanding before an interview.

  • Just-in-time — parts arrive as needed rather than being stockpiled
  • Jidoka — automation with a human touch; machines stop themselves when something is wrong
  • Andon — the system by which an operator signals a problem and stops the line
  • Kanban — visual signals controlling material flow
  • Poka-yoke — error-proofing so mistakes cannot be made
  • Standard work — the documented best-known method for every operation
  • Kaizen — continuous improvement driven from the shop floor

Quality, Digital and Environmental Systems

  • Coordinate measuring machines and dimensional scanning
  • End-of-line functional testing
  • PLC and SCADA control across shops
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems and ERP
  • Barcode and RFID traceability
  • ISO 14001 environmental management, held since the plant’s first year

Three developments will shape these jobs.

Hybrid, Not Battery-Electric — For Now

Toyota’s Indian strategy has centred on strong hybrids rather than battery-electric vehicles, and it crossed 300,000 cumulative strong-hybrid vehicles in May 2026.

One important clarification. Toyota launched its first battery-electric model in India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella, in January 2026 — but it is sourced from Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat operation under the Toyota–Suzuki alliance, not built at Bidadi. Do not read it as Toyota EV manufacturing in Karnataka.

For a plant technician, that means hybrid systems competence is the more immediately relevant skill in Toyota’s Indian operation, and high-voltage safety training applies to both.

The Maharashtra Plant, 2029

Bidkin will add 100,000 units of capacity and around 2,800 jobs, producing a new SUV, from the first half of 2029. Combined with the 45-ITI training lab programme across Maharashtra, Toyota is clearly building a skills pipeline in the state ahead of the plant.

If you are an ITI student in Maharashtra, those two facts belong together in your planning.

Growing Volumes in Karnataka

Bidadi capacity has grown substantially, reported at 552,000 units a year by May 2026, and sales rose 28% in FY2024-25. Volume growth is the most reliable indicator of hiring at a company that does not publish headcount.

If plant work is not the right long-term fit, the same qualifications open several adjacent paths.

Technical Alternatives

  • Maintenance technician in any manufacturing sector
  • CNC machine operator and programmer
  • Industrial electrician or instrumentation technician
  • Robotics and automation service technician
  • Hybrid and EV systems technician
  • Automobile dealership service technician, including through T-TEP

The Lean Consulting Route

Genuine Toyota Production System experience is a marketable specialism in its own right. Operational excellence consultants, lean transformation roles and internal continuous-improvement functions at other manufacturers all recruit people with hands-on TPS background.

Quality, Safety and Supervisory Paths

  • Quality control inspector across manufacturing sectors
  • Industrial safety officer
  • Production planning and control
  • Stores and inventory management
  • Line supervisor and production coordinator

Which ITI trade is best for a Toyota plant job?

Toyota does not publish a trade list, but its own institute teaches Automobile Assembly, Automobile Paint, Automobile Weld and Mechatronics — which tells you which skills the plant needs. Among Government ITI trades, Fitter, Welder, Painter, Electrician, Machinist and Technician Mechatronics map most closely.

Is Toyota experience valuable elsewhere?

Yes, unusually so. The Toyota Production System underpins most modern manufacturing practice, and hands-on TPS experience is actively sought by other manufacturers and by lean consulting firms. It is one of the more portable credentials in Indian industry.

Final Summary

Toyota Kirloskar Motor manufactures at Bidadi in Ramanagara district, Karnataka, with reported capacity of 552,000 units a year as of May 2026 and sales up 28% in FY2024-25. A second plant at Bidkin in Maharashtra will add 100,000 units and around 2,800 jobs from 2029.

The standout opportunity here is not a vacancy — it is a training route. The Toyota Technical Training Institute has operated inside the Bidadi plant since 2007, teaching automobile assembly, paint, weld and mechatronics on the Toyota Production System, and placing graduates as Sub Line Leaders rather than as plain operators. For a Class 10 student in Karnataka, few routes into manufacturing are this direct.

In Maharashtra, the parallel is the 45-ITI automotive training lab programme signed with the state in November 2025, covering the Light Motor Vehicle Technician trade and around 8,000 students. Toyota is visibly building a skills pipeline in the state ahead of its 2029 plant. Those two facts belong together in any Maharashtra student’s planning.

Be clear about what is not published. Toyota is unlisted and discloses no employee count, turnover or pay bands, and issues no recruitment notification. Anyone quoting a Toyota vacancy count, walk-in date or precise salary is not working from a company source.

Finally, Toyota’s fraud warning is among the clearest in the industry, and worth taking literally: it does not ask or collect any amount of money from applicants at any stage. Deposits for interviews, travel or work permits are always fraud. Apply only through careers.toyotabharat.com, and verify anything else through the company’s website or HR division before you act.
