Anúncios
Kia India runs a single manufacturing plant, and that plant sits in one of the more remote industrial locations of any carmaker in the country — Erramanchi village in Penukonda mandal, Andhra Pradesh.
That location is the whole story for job seekers. When Kia signed its agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government in 2017, the commitment was around 10,000 direct jobs in a district that had very little large-scale manufacturing before. The plant started building cars in August 2019 and crossed 1.5 million units by April 2025.
Before going further, one warning. There is a widely circulated article claiming Kia has opened a “sixth manufacturing plant” in Anantapur with ₹8,000 crore of investment and 5,000 new jobs. It has no basis in any Kia announcement, and the figures in it are not real. This guide uses only what Kia and the Andhra Pradesh government have actually published.
What follows covers the plant jobs, who is eligible, realistic pay, and how to apply officially. It is a career guide, not a vacancy notice.

Industry Overview
Kia is the newest of the major carmakers in India, and it scaled faster than any of them. That matters for job seekers because a young plant has a young workforce and a different promotion dynamic from a forty-year-old factory.
Where Kia Sits
Kia India Private Limited was incorporated on 19 May 2017 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kia Corporation of South Korea. It is an unlisted private company, which means it does not publish the detailed workforce and sustainability disclosures that listed manufacturers file each year.
The plant went into mass production in August 2019 with the Seltos. It reached one million vehicles in July 2023 — just 47 months after launch, one of the fastest ramps in Indian automotive history — and crossed 1.5 million by late April 2025.
In FY2025-26 Kia sold around 2.89 lakh vehicles domestically, up 13.3%, taking about 6.2% of the passenger vehicle market and ranking sixth among carmakers in India. The first half of calendar 2026 was its best ever, at 163,749 units.
The Plant and Its District
One point of confusion worth clearing up. Kia’s plant is almost always described as being in Anantapur. That was correct until 4 April 2022, when Andhra Pradesh reorganised its districts and the Penukonda area moved into the newly formed Sri Sathya Sai district, with its headquarters at Puttaparthi.
Kia’s own website and most press coverage still say Anantapur. Both refer to the same place. If you are filling in an application or checking a location, the current district is Sri Sathya Sai.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Village and mandal | Erramanchi, Penukonda mandal |
| District | Sri Sathya Sai (formerly Anantapur) |
| Nearest highway | NH-44 |
| Site area | 536 acres developed |
| Investment | USD 2 billion |
| Capacity | 300,000 units a year |
| Exports | To more than 90 countries |
Why a Single-Plant Employer Is Different
Kia has one manufacturing site in India. There is no internal transfer to another plant, no second location to apply to, and no fallback if hiring at Penukonda slows.
The upside is that everything is concentrated. The supplier park that grew around the plant, the ancillary units, and the logistics operations all sit in the same corridor. If you are from Sri Sathya Sai, Anantapur or the surrounding districts, this is the single biggest industrial employer in your region.
Current Demand
This section needs care, because the gap between what Kia has actually announced and what circulates online is wider here than for any other manufacturer in this series.
What Kia Has Actually Committed To
The 2017 memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government covered USD 2 billion of investment, 600 acres at Penukonda, capacity of 300,000 cars a year, and — in the wording reported at the time — nearly 10,000 direct jobs once fully operational.
That commitment has been delivered. The plant is running, capacity is at 300,000 units, and the company states a workforce of over 15,000 across Kia India and its affiliates.
Read that last figure precisely. It is Kia’s own wording and it covers Kia plus its affiliates and supplier partners, not direct Kia India headcount. Kia does not publish a direct employee number, and because it is unlisted there is no annual sustainability filing that would contain one.
What Has Not Been Announced
As of July 2026, Kia has not announced a capacity expansion, a second Indian plant, or a new investment agreement. Its own plant page still states 300,000 units a year.
In July 2023 the then managing director said capacity would rise to 430,000 units by mid-2024. Whether that was achieved is unclear, since the company’s current page still shows the lower figure.
In July 2026 the Andhra Pradesh IT minister met a Kia Corporation executive vice president in Seoul and urged the company to set up an integrated EV and hybrid hub, a battery and components centre, a CKD assembly and export hub near Visakhapatnam port, and an EV powertrain testing centre. Kia said it would examine the proposals. No investment figure, timeline or job number was committed to.
That is a state government pitch, not a Kia decision. Treat any article presenting it as a confirmed expansion with scepticism.
The Export Picture — Be Realistic
Kia’s fully built unit exports have fallen sharply. They peaked at 85,756 units in FY2022-23, dropped to 52,105 in FY2023-24, collapsed to 12,822 in FY2024-25, and recovered to roughly 27,953 in FY2025-26. Cumulative CBU exports stood at 287,151 units as of March 2026.
The stronger export story is completely knocked-down kits. Kia India has exported over 100,000 CKD kits since June 2020 and accounts for around half of Kia Corporation’s global CKD exports, with a stated aim of doubling export volume by 2030 into West Asia and Africa.
For a job seeker, CKD is good news. Kit packing, component handling and export logistics are labour-intensive operations that sit alongside vehicle assembly.
Shift Pattern
The plant moved to a third shift in March 2022, taking it to full utilisation. Whether all three shifts are currently running is not published. Three-shift operation is the single biggest driver of shop-floor headcount at any plant, so it is a reasonable question to ask at interview.
Job Roles
Kia does not publish a shop-wise role list. The structure below reflects standard car manufacturing practice, applied to what is known about the Penukonda plant.
Production Shop Roles
- Press Shop Operator — stamping body panels from steel coil
- Body and Weld Shop Operator — robotic and manual welding of the body-in-white
- Paint Shop Operator — pre-treatment, primer, base and clear coat, inspection
- Trim, Chassis and Final Assembly Operator
- Engine and Transmission Assembly Operator
- EV Assembly Technician — Kia builds the Carens Clavis EV and Syros EV on its existing flexible lines rather than a separate EV line
- CKD Kit Packing Operator — a significant function given Kia India’s export kit volumes
- Material Handling and Logistics Operator
Quality and Testing Roles
- Quality Inspector — in-process and end-of-line
- Pre-Delivery Inspection Technician
- Metrology Technician — dimensional measurement and gauge control
- Vehicle Test Technician — roll, brake and water testing
- Supplier Quality Assistant — incoming component verification
Maintenance and Engineering Roles
- Maintenance Technician — mechanical, electrical and instrumentation streams
- Robotics and Automation Technician
- Tool Room Technician — die and fixture maintenance
- Utilities Operator — compressors, chillers, effluent treatment, paint shop utilities
Supervisory and Staff Roles
- Line Leader and Shift Supervisor
- Production and Process Engineer
- EHS Officer
- Stores, Dispatch and Export Logistics roles
Kia’s careers portal also carries openings at Gurugram, its corporate office, and Navi Mumbai — mostly commercial, sales and support functions rather than manufacturing.
Daily Responsibilities
Car assembly is paced by the line, and Kia runs a high-volume plant with significant model mix across seven nameplates.
A Typical Line Operator Shift
The shift opens with a handover, a safety briefing and a check of tools and torque equipment. The line then runs, and each operator completes a defined sequence of operations within a fixed cycle time before the vehicle advances.
Model mix is a real feature of this plant. With Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Carens Clavis, Syros and two EV variants running through the same shops, operators need to follow the right work instruction for the right variant. Getting that wrong is the most common quality failure on a mixed line.
A Typical Maintenance Shift
Maintenance teams work preventive schedules during planned stoppages and respond to breakdowns during running hours. On a line running near full capacity, a stopped station costs output every minute, so diagnosis speed is what the role is judged on.
Because the plant is relatively new, the equipment is modern and consistent — which makes it good ground for learning current automation rather than legacy machinery.
A Typical Quality Shift
Quality staff run in-process audits, end-of-line inspection and rectification follow-up, log defects, trace them to a station or supplier, and support countermeasure work when a trend appears.
With exports to more than 90 countries, quality standards at this plant have to satisfy multiple national regulations at once. That raises the documentation burden and makes the quality function more rigorous than at a domestic-only plant.
Working Conditions to Expect
- Rotational shifts; the plant has operated three shifts since March 2022
- Fixed cycle times and documented standard operating procedures
- Mandatory safety shoes, gloves, ear and eye protection
- Standing work for most of the shift
- Company transport is significant here given the rural location — most of the workforce commutes from surrounding towns and villages
- Kia India has been certified a Great Place To Work for two consecutive years and named among India’s Best Workplaces in Automotive 2026
Required Skills
Korean-managed plants place heavy weight on process discipline and precise standard work.
Technical Skills
- Reading work instructions, standard operating procedures and basic drawings
- Correct use of torque wrenches, nut runners and hand tools
- Measurement with vernier caliper, micrometer and gauges
- Basic hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical safety
- Accurate recording of production and quality data
- Familiarity with 5S, Kaizen and standard work concepts
- Ability to distinguish between model variants on a mixed line
Safety and Compliance
- Correct PPE use without prompting
- Lockout-tagout discipline before machine intervention
- Stopping and reporting rather than improvising a fix
- Emergency response familiarity
- Honest near-miss reporting
Language and Location
Telugu is the working language of the shop floor. Hindi is useful with staff from other states, and functional English matters because work instructions, quality records and system screens are in English.
Location is a genuine consideration. Penukonda is rural, roughly midway between Bengaluru and Anantapur on NH-44. Many employees commute from Bengaluru’s northern outskirts, Hindupur, Anantapur or Puttaparthi. Factor travel time and accommodation into any offer.
Personal Qualities That Get You Hired
- Attendance discipline, which matters more when transport logistics are long
- Willingness to work rotational shifts including nights
- Physical fitness for standing work at a fixed cycle time
- Consistency across a high model mix
- Team behaviour and clean handovers
Education Requirements
Kia does not publish plant-level eligibility criteria. This section sets out what each qualification realistically opens at a car plant of this type.
After 10th Standard
A 10th pass alone is not a realistic entry point. The productive step is a Government ITI trade, which takes one to two years and costs very little at a state ITI. Andhra Pradesh has a dense network of government ITIs, and Kia has supported one directly.
The ITI Route
These are the Craftsmen Training Scheme trades designated by the Directorate General of Training that map onto car manufacturing. Kia does not publish a trade list, so treat this as sector guidance.
| ITI trade | Duration | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Fitter | 2 years | Assembly, mechanical maintenance |
| Electrician | 2 years | Plant electricals |
| Welder | 1 year | Body and weld shop |
| Turner | 2 years | Machine shop |
| Machinist | 2 years | Engine component machining |
| Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) | 2 years | Assembly, vehicle testing |
| Electronics Mechanic | 2 years | Controls and automation support |
| Instrument Mechanic | 2 years | Calibration and instrumentation |
| Tool and Die Maker | 2 years | Press tooling, tool room |
| Painter (General) | 2 years | Paint shop |
| Technician Mechatronics | 2 years | Robotics and automation |
After 12th Standard
A 12th pass with Science combined with an ITI certificate is a solid profile. On its own, a 12th pass suits stores, dispatch, packing and administrative support roles — and CKD kit packing is a meaningful operation at this plant.
Diploma and Degree Routes
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile or Mechatronics — technician and junior engineering roles
- B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics or Production — engineering roles in manufacturing and quality
- Polytechnics and engineering colleges in Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai and the Bengaluru corridor are the natural feeder institutions
Documents to Keep Ready
- ITI certificate with NCVT or SCVT marking, or diploma marksheets
- 10th and 12th certificates
- Aadhaar and PAN
- Bank account details
- Passport-size photographs
- Local address or domicile proof, which often matters for plants with regional hiring commitments
Professional Certifications
The trade certificate decides eligibility. Everything else improves your position at shortlisting and promotion.
Core Certification
- National Trade Certificate (NTC) — awarded on completing an ITI trade under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, with NCVT or SCVT marking
- National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) — awarded on completing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961
- Automotive Skills Development Council certification — Kia has partnered with ASDC, and its CSR training in Andhra Pradesh is ASDC-certified
Safety Certifications
- Industrial safety certificate or diploma
- First aid and fire safety training
- Forklift and material handling equipment licences
- Heavy motor vehicle driving licence — Kia has run HMV driving training as a CSR programme in the region, and logistics roles around the plant need it
- High-voltage safety training, relevant as EV production grows
Quality and Process Certifications
- IATF 16949 awareness, the automotive quality management standard
- ISO 9001 internal auditor training
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt
- Statistical process control fundamentals
Skills Worth Adding on Your Own
Basic computer literacy is expected on the line. Familiarity with a touchscreen HMI, an ERP screen and basic Excel is worth acquiring before you apply. Functional English for reading work instructions is equally valuable.
Training Programs
Kia’s published training activity in India falls into two categories, and it is important to know which leads where.
The ASDC Partnership — Dealership, Not Plant
In August 2025 Kia India announced a partnership with the Automotive Skills Development Council. The programme runs a 30-day module — 15 days of classroom training at ASDC-certified centres and 15 days of on-the-job training at authorised Kia dealerships — with joint Kia and ASDC certification.
Graduates become eligible for sales and service roles within the dealer network. This is a genuine career route with faster entry than plant work, but it is not plant recruitment. Be clear which one you are pursuing.
Kia’s CSR Skilling in Andhra Pradesh
Kia runs several community skilling programmes in the districts around its plant, and these are worth knowing about because they are locally accessible.
- Auto Service Technician Training — 100 candidates across four batches of three months each, certified by the Automotive Skills Development Council, for unemployed youth of Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts
- Heavy Motor Vehicle driving training — 112 trained across seven batches of 42 days with the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Department, of whom 74 were placed; later scaled to 352 youth at the Hindupur and Anantapur depots
- Skill Development and Job Creation — 800 youth trained in data entry, accounts, data analytics and auto service technician roles
- Support to Government ITI Dhone — laboratories upgraded with 2,398 tools across five trades covering Automobile, Mechanical, Welding, Civil and Electronics, serving around 500 students a year
These are community programmes rather than guaranteed routes into the plant, but the ITI Dhone support in particular shows where the company is investing in the local skills base.
Plant Entry — What Is Actually Available
Kia India does not publish a named graduate engineer trainee, diploma trainee or apprentice scheme on its official channels. Programme names circulating on job blogs are not traceable to any Kia source.
The practical route is the official careers portal at career.kiaindia.net, which carries live listings for Anantapur alongside Gurugram and Navi Mumbai. Monitoring it directly and applying to specific requisitions is the approach that works.
Apprenticeship Stipend Rates
Where apprenticeships are offered by any employer in India, they carry statutory minimum stipends set by government notification. Following the revision effective September 2025, the prescribed minimums are:
| Category | Minimum monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Class 10 pass-outs | ₹8,200 |
| Class 12 pass-outs | ₹9,600 |
| ITI / National or State Certificate holders | ₹9,600 |
| Vocational or 2-year diploma holders | ₹9,600 |
| Technician (diploma) apprentices | ₹10,900 |
| Graduate and degree apprentices | ₹12,300 |
Salary Guide
Kia India is unlisted and publishes no pay bands or workforce disclosures. This section is therefore more limited than it would be for a listed manufacturer, and everything indicative is clearly labelled.
What Is Documented
Apprentice stipends carry the statutory minimums in the table above. Permanent workmen at large plants are covered by Andhra Pradesh minimum wage notifications and, where a union agreement exists, by wage settlements that are not published.
On company scale, the last press-verified figures were revenue of ₹34,969.3 crore and net profit of ₹1,576.9 crore for the year ended March 2024. More recent filings had not been publicly reported at the time of writing.
Indicative Ranges by Role
The ranges below are broad indicative figures for passenger vehicle manufacturing in India generally. They are not Kia figures and should be confirmed at interview.
| Role | Indicative annual range (CTC) |
|---|---|
| Apprentice (stipend basis) | ₹1.15 – ₹1.5 lakh |
| Contract or temporary operator | ₹1.8 – ₹2.8 lakh |
| Permanent line operator | ₹2.5 – ₹4.5 lakh |
| Maintenance technician | ₹3.0 – ₹5.5 lakh |
| Robotics / automation technician | ₹3.5 – ₹6.0 lakh |
| Quality inspector | ₹2.8 – ₹5.0 lakh |
| Diploma engineer trainee | ₹2.4 – ₹3.6 lakh |
| Line leader / shift supervisor | ₹4.5 – ₹8.0 lakh |
| Graduate engineer | ₹6.0 – ₹12.0 lakh |
One practical note on this location. Cost of living around Penukonda, Hindupur and Anantapur is considerably lower than in Bengaluru, Pune or Chennai. A given salary goes further here, which partly offsets the remoteness.
What Actually Increases Your Pay
- Conversion from contract to the permanent rolls — the largest single jump
- Multi-skilling, particularly into maintenance, robotics or automation
- EV and high-voltage competence as Kia builds more electric models locally
- Shift allowances, overtime and production incentives
- Promotion into line leader and supervisory grades
Employee Benefits
Kia India has been certified a Great Place To Work for two consecutive years and named among India’s Best Workplaces in Automotive for 2026, which is a reasonable external signal on employment practices.
Statutory Benefits
- Provident Fund (EPF) — employer and employee contributions
- Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) — medical cover below the wage threshold
- Gratuity — payable after five years of continuous service
- Paid leave — earned, casual and sick leave under the Factories Act and Andhra Pradesh rules
- Bonus — under the Payment of Bonus Act, where applicable
- Maternity benefit — under the Maternity Benefit Act
Benefits That Matter at This Location
Given the rural setting, two items carry more weight here than at an urban plant.
- Company transport — the workforce commutes from a wide catchment, so bus routes and pickup points are a material part of the package
- Accommodation support — worth asking about directly, particularly if you are relocating from outside the region
Large plants of this scale also typically provide subsidised canteen meals, uniforms and protective equipment, group medical insurance, shift allowances and production or attendance incentives.
What to Confirm Before Accepting
- Whether the role is apprentice, contract, fixed-term or permanent
- Whether the contract is directly with Kia India or through a manpower contractor
- Whether the figure quoted is stipend, gross, CTC or take-home
- Transport route, pickup point and travel time from where you live
- Shift pattern and how shift allowance is calculated
- Criteria and timeline for conversion to permanent
Career Progression
A young plant has a particular career dynamic, and it cuts both ways.
The Shop-Floor Ladder
| Stage | Typical duration | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Year 0–1 | Apprentice or contract operator |
| Confirmed | Year 1–3 | Permanent operator or technician |
| Multi-skilled | Year 3–7 | Senior operator, relief operator, maintenance technician |
| Supervisory | Year 7–12 | Line leader, shift supervisor |
| Management | Year 12+ | Section head, assistant manager, shop functions |
What a Young Plant Means for You
Kia started production in August 2019. The people who joined at launch are only now reaching seven years of service, which means the supervisory layer is relatively young and turnover at that level is low.
The flip side is that the plant scaled from zero to 1.5 million vehicles in under six years. That kind of ramp creates genuine opportunity for people who were there through it, because experience of a fast-growing operation is scarce and valued.
The Single-Site Constraint
Be realistic about this. With one plant, there is no internal transfer to another location. Career moves happen within the site, or you leave.
The mitigation is the surrounding cluster. Kia’s supplier park and the wider Bengaluru–Anantapur industrial corridor contain many tier-one component makers, and Kia experience is a strong credential with them.
How to Move Faster
First, get confirmed. Contract status is where careers stall.
Second, specialise into a scarce skill — robotics, automation, or EV and high-voltage work as Kia adds more electric models.
Third, learn the export side. CKD kit operations, export documentation and multi-market quality standards are a distinctive strength of this plant and a differentiated skill set to carry elsewhere.
Top Employers
Kia’s location puts it in an unusual competitive position — close enough to Bengaluru to compete with Karnataka’s manufacturing base, but physically in Andhra Pradesh.
Manufacturers in the Same Corridor
- Kia India — Penukonda, Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh
- Toyota Kirloskar Motor — Bidadi, Ramanagara district, Karnataka
- TVS Motor — Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on the Karnataka border
- Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India — Narsapura, Kolar district, Karnataka
- Ola Electric and other EV manufacturers in the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka belt
- Volvo, Ashok Leyland and Bosch facilities around Bengaluru
- Foxconn and electronics manufacturers in the Devanahalli and Sri City corridors
Elsewhere in India
- Maruti Suzuki — Haryana and Gujarat
- Tata Motors — Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu
- Hyundai Motor India — Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra; Kia’s sister company within the Hyundai Motor Group
- Mahindra & Mahindra — Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab
The Hyundai connection is worth noting. Kia and Hyundai are part of the same group and share platforms and suppliers, so experience at one is directly relevant to the other.
The Supplier Park
A supplier ecosystem grew around the Penukonda plant to serve it. Component manufacturers collectively hire more ITI holders than the assembly plant itself, and they are usually easier to enter. If a direct application is not moving, the supplier park is the sensible parallel route.
How to Apply to Kia India
Applications go through the official careers portal at career.kiaindia.net, which carries live listings for Anantapur, Gurugram and Navi Mumbai.
One practical warning. A careers link in Kia India’s own website footer currently returns a 404 error, and career.kia.com is Kia Corporation’s global Korean recruitment site, not Kia India. Use career.kiaindia.net.
How to Spot Fake Kia Job Offers
An important clarification here. Kia India publishes an official Notice of Caution, but it concerns dealership fraud rather than job fraud — it warns about people posing as Kia employees or agents fraudulently offering dealership allotment and asking for deposits, and names a lookalike scam domain that closely resembles the genuine one.
Kia India does not publish a separate recruitment-fraud warning. That does not make job scams less common; it simply means you should rely on general verification rather than a company notice.
Treat it as fraudulent if:
- Any fee is demanded — registration, security deposit, medical, training, uniform or file charges
- An offer letter arrives before any assessment or interview
- Contact comes only from a Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook address rather than a company domain
- The domain looks almost right but not quite — Kia has already been targeted by a lookalike domain scam, so check the spelling character by character
- You are asked to send Aadhaar, PAN or bank details over WhatsApp
- A specific vacancy count and CTC is quoted that does not appear on the official portal
- The apply link is a Google Form, a Telegram channel or a shortened URL
Verify like this:
- Check the opening on career.kiaindia.net before responding to anything
- Check the sending domain letter by letter against the official one
- Remember that no genuine employer in India charges a candidate for a job
If money is demanded, report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call the cyber crime helpline 1930.
Industries Hiring
Skills built at a car plant transfer widely, which matters especially when your employer has only one site.
Directly Related Sectors
- Auto component manufacturing, including Kia’s own supplier park
- Electric vehicle and battery assembly
- Two-wheeler manufacturing across the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu belt
- Commercial vehicle and tractor manufacturing
- Tyre and rubber goods manufacturing
Broader Manufacturing in the Corridor
- Electronics and mobile phone manufacturing around Bengaluru and Sri City
- Aerospace and defence components around Bengaluru
- Industrial machinery and capital goods
- Textiles and apparel manufacturing in Anantapur district
- Solar and renewable equipment manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh
Services Around the Plant
- Vehicle dealership service workshops, including Kia’s own 892 touchpoints across 407 cities
- Export logistics and freight forwarding, given the CKD kit operation
- Plant maintenance and facility management contractors
- Industrial safety and quality auditing
- ITIs and polytechnics, as instructors after plant experience
Technology Used
The Penukonda plant was built from scratch in 2017 and 2018, so it carries a consistent, modern technology standard rather than a mix of generations.
Production Technology
- Press lines for body panel stamping
- Robotic welding lines for body-in-white
- Automated paint shops with robotic applicators
- Conveyor-based trim, chassis and final assembly
- Flexible lines capable of building internal combustion and electric vehicles on the same track — Kia does not operate a separate EV line
- CKD kit packing operations for export
Quality and Testing Technology
- Coordinate measuring machines and dimensional scanning
- End-of-line roll, brake and water testing
- Vision-based inspection systems
- Torque monitoring and traceability on critical fasteners
Digital and Control Systems
- PLC and SCADA control across shops
- Manufacturing Execution Systems tracking each vehicle
- ERP for materials, maintenance and payroll
- Barcode and RFID traceability
- Digital dashboards for OEE and downtime monitoring
The flexible-line approach is worth understanding as a job seeker. Because EVs and petrol cars run down the same track, operators need competence in both — which makes EV and high-voltage training relevant to a much larger share of the workforce than at a plant with a separate EV line.
Future Industry Trends
Three things will shape jobs at this plant over the next few years.
Electrification on Existing Lines
Kia launched the Carens Clavis EV in July 2025 as its first made-in-India electric vehicle, followed by the Syros EV in July 2026. Both are built at Penukonda on the existing flexible lines.
Because there is no separate EV line, EV competence spreads across the whole shop floor rather than being confined to a specialist team. High-voltage safety training is therefore relevant to more people here than at most plants.
The Export Question
Fully built exports fell sharply from their FY2023 peak and have only partly recovered. The CKD kit business is the more durable export story, with India accounting for around half of Kia Corporation’s global CKD exports and a stated aim of doubling export volume by 2030.
That growth would be labour-intensive on the packing and logistics side, which is a realistic area of job growth at this site.
The Expansion That Has Not Been Announced
The Andhra Pradesh government has actively pitched Kia on an integrated EV hub, a battery and components centre, a CKD assembly hub near Visakhapatnam and an EV powertrain testing centre. Kia has said it will examine the proposals.
Nothing has been committed. If Kia does announce an expansion, it would be significant for the region — but until there is an announcement from the company itself, treat expansion claims as speculation regardless of how confidently they are written.
Related Careers
If plant work is not the right fit, the same qualifications open several adjacent paths — including one Kia actively trains for locally.
The Dealership Service Track
Kia’s ASDC partnership and its Auto Service Technician CSR training both lead to the dealer network — service technician, body repair, painter and service advisor roles across 892 touchpoints in 407 cities. Entry is faster than plant work and training is provided.
Technical Alternatives
- Maintenance technician in any manufacturing sector
- CNC machine operator and programmer
- Industrial electrician or instrumentation technician
- Robotics and automation service technician
- EV battery and charging infrastructure technician
- Heavy vehicle driving and logistics, which Kia has trained for locally
Quality, Safety and Supervisory Paths

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Kia recruitment 2026 officially open?
Kia India recruits on a rolling basis through its careers portal at career.kiaindia.net rather than through an annual notification or exam. Any notice claiming a fixed Kia recruitment exam or last date outside that portal should be treated with caution.
Where is the Kia plant in India?
Kia has one manufacturing plant in India, at Erramanchi village in Penukonda mandal, on NH-44. The district is Sri Sathya Sai, which was formed in April 2022 from the erstwhile Anantapur district. Kia’s own site and most press coverage still say Anantapur — both refer to the same place.
Has Kia opened a new plant in Anantapur?
No. An article claiming Kia has launched a sixth manufacturing plant in Anantapur with ₹8,000 crore of investment and thousands of new jobs is circulating online, but it is not supported by any Kia announcement, government release or business publication. Kia’s own plant page still states a single facility with capacity of 300,000 units a year.
How many people work at the Kia India plant?
Kia India states a workforce of over 15,000 across Kia India and its affiliates. That figure covers the wider ecosystem including affiliate and supplier operations, not direct Kia India headcount. As an unlisted company, Kia does not publish a detailed employee breakdown.
What is the minimum qualification for Kia plant jobs?
Kia does not publish plant-level eligibility criteria. Across Indian car manufacturing, shop-floor roles typically require a Government ITI certificate with NCVT or SCVT marking, diploma holders enter technician roles, and B.Tech graduates enter engineering positions.
Does Kia India charge a fee for recruitment?
No genuine employer in India charges candidates for a job. Note that Kia India’s official Notice of Caution concerns dealership fraud rather than recruitment fraud, so there is no company job-scam notice to rely on — verify openings on career.kiaindia.net and report any demand for money at cybercrime.gov.in or on helpline 1930.
Does the Kia ASDC programme lead to a plant job?
No. The Kia India partnership with the Automotive Skills Development Council runs a 30-day module with classroom and on-the-job training at authorised Kia dealerships, and makes graduates eligible for sales and service roles in the dealer network. It is a dealership career track, not plant recruitment.
Which cars are made at the Kia India plant?
Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Carens Clavis, Carens Clavis EV, Syros and Syros EV are built at Penukonda. The Carnival, EV6 and EV9 are imported as fully built units rather than made in India.
Is Kia expanding its India plant?
No expansion, second plant or new investment agreement has been announced as of July 2026, and Kia’s own plant page still shows 300,000 units of capacity. The Andhra Pradesh government has pitched Kia on an EV hub and related projects, and Kia said it would examine the proposals, but nothing has been committed.
What is it like to work at Kia India?
Kia India has been certified a Great Place To Work for two consecutive years and named among India’s Best Workplaces in Automotive for 2026. The main practical consideration is location — Penukonda is rural, and most of the workforce commutes from surrounding towns, so transport arrangements matter.
Final Summary
Kia India is a single-plant manufacturer with a strong record — from first vehicle in August 2019 to 1.5 million units by April 2025, and sixth place among Indian carmakers on around 2.89 lakh domestic sales in FY2025-26. For anyone in Sri Sathya Sai, Anantapur or the northern Bengaluru corridor, it is the largest industrial employer within reach.
What this guide can give you that most cannot is an honest picture of the limits. Kia is unlisted, so it publishes no workforce breakdown, no pay bands and no annual sustainability disclosure. The only workforce figure it provides — over 15,000 — explicitly covers Kia and its affiliates rather than direct headcount. Anyone quoting a precise Kia India employee count or salary band is guessing.
Be equally careful about expansion claims. No new plant, capacity increase or investment agreement has been announced. A widely shared article describing a sixth plant with ₹8,000 crore and thousands of jobs has no basis in any Kia or government source. The Andhra Pradesh government has made proposals; Kia has not committed to them.
The practical route in is a Government ITI in a relevant trade, followed by applications through career.kiaindia.net — and, in parallel, to the supplier park around the plant, which hires more ITI holders than the assembly plant itself. If your interest is workshop rather than factory work, the Kia and ASDC dealership programme is a faster and well-supported alternative.
Finally, verify everything. Kia has already been targeted by a lookalike domain scam, so check any sender address character by character, apply only through the official portal, and never pay a fee. No genuine employer in India charges a candidate for a job.
