Anúncios
Hyundai Motor India completed thirty years in the country in May 2026, and in that time it has built one of the largest car manufacturing operations in India. Its Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai has been running since 1998, and a second plant at Talegaon near Pune started building vehicles in October 2025.
Between them, the two sites now carry capacity of close to a million cars a year, supported by a workforce of over 17,000 employees and workers.
There is one thing worth being upfront about, because most job pages get it wrong. Hyundai’s well-publicised network of technical training academies and ITI tie-ups is aimed at its dealership service network, not at plant recruitment. Those are two different career paths, and this guide separates them clearly.
What follows covers the plant jobs, who is eligible, realistic pay, and how to apply through official channels only. It is a career guide, not a vacancy notice.

Industry Overview
Hyundai’s Indian operation is unusual in one respect that matters for job seekers. It is not only a domestic manufacturer — it is a major export base, shipping vehicles to more than sixty countries. That export orientation keeps production volumes steadier than a purely domestic manufacturer’s would be.
Where Hyundai Sits
Hyundai Motor India Limited was incorporated in 1996 and began production at Sriperumbudur in 1998, as Hyundai’s first fully integrated manufacturing plant outside Korea. It listed on the Indian exchanges on 22 October 2024 through what was at the time the largest IPO in Indian history at ₹27,858.75 crore.
In FY2025-26 the company reported revenue of ₹70,763 crore, up 2.3% year on year. By May 2026 it had completed thirty years in India with cumulative sales of 13.5 million vehicles, split between 9.6 million domestic and 3.9 million exported.
The Two Plants
| Plant | Location | Capacity and status |
|---|---|---|
| Sriperumbudur | SIPCOT Industrial Park, Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu | Commissioned 1998; 824,000 units a year; also houses EV battery pack assembly since January 2025 |
| Talegaon | MIDC Talegaon Industrial Area, Pune district, Maharashtra | Acquired from General Motors India; engine production from June 2025, vehicle production from October 2025; 170,000 units a year in phase one |
The Talegaon plant is the significant development for anyone job hunting in Maharashtra. It expands to 250,000 units by 2028 and to 320,000 units by 2030, which means phased hiring across several years rather than a single intake.
Why the Company’s Structure Matters
Hyundai’s workforce disclosure for FY2024-25 shows something important. The company reported 3,871 permanent employees and 2,210 permanent workers, alongside 10,951 other-than-permanent workers.
In plain terms, roughly five out of every six workers on the shop floor were on contract or other non-permanent terms. That is the normal structure at Indian car plants, and it defines what a realistic entry looks like.
Current Demand
Demand at Hyundai comes from two sources — the Talegaon ramp-up in Maharashtra, and a large multi-year investment commitment in Tamil Nadu tied to electric vehicles.
The Talegaon Ramp-Up
The company signed an asset purchase agreement for the former General Motors plant at Talegaon in August 2023. Engine production began on 16 June 2025 and vehicle production on 1 October 2025, with the New Venue as the first model built there.
Phase one capacity is 170,000 units a year, though management has indicated that around 130,000 to 140,000 is achievable on two shifts, with the full figure requiring three. A second phase adds 80,000 units by 2028, and a further 70,000 between 2028 and 2030.
Three-shift operation is the detail worth noting. Moving from two shifts to three requires roughly fifty percent more shop-floor staff, and that is where a meaningful share of near-term hiring will come from.
The Tamil Nadu Commitment
In June 2026 Hyundai announced Tamil Nadu as its flagship electric vehicle hub for India, alongside a memorandum of understanding with the state government covering ₹26,000 crore of investment in Tamil Nadu across 2023 to 2032.
The company said localisation would rise from 82% to 90% over five to six years, with supplier purchasing increasing by ₹4,000 crore. It expects that to create around 2,000 additional jobs over the same period — though note those are supplier-linked jobs across the ecosystem rather than direct HMIL positions.
The Skill Centre
As part of the same announcement, Hyundai and the Tamil Nadu government committed to a skill development initiative due to begin operations in December 2027. It will cover EV training, hydrogen mobility, robotics, automation, AI-enabled manufacturing and smart manufacturing, with the state partnering ITIs, polytechnics, engineering colleges and state skill institutions.
For a student currently in an ITI or polytechnic in Tamil Nadu, that is a development worth tracking. The centre’s location, intake and admission process had not been published at the time of writing.
Overall Employment Scale
In its thirty-year milestone communication in May 2026, the company said it had created 15,000 to 18,000 direct jobs in India, alongside 3.5 to 4.5 lakh indirect livelihoods across its supplier and dealer ecosystem.
Hyundai has also been certified a Top Employer in India for three consecutive years, ranked first in the automobile sector and fourth nationally in January 2026. Attrition among permanent workers was reported at just 0.4% in FY2024-25, which tells you that permanent shop-floor positions, once secured, are rarely given up.
Job Roles
A car plant is organised into shops that run in sequence. Hyundai does not publish a shop-wise role list, so the structure below reflects standard car manufacturing practice rather than a company disclosure.
Production Shop Roles
- Press Shop Operator — stamping body panels from steel coil
- Body and Weld Shop Operator — robotic and manual welding to build the body-in-white
- Paint Shop Operator — pre-treatment, primer, base coat, clear coat and inspection
- Trim, Chassis and Final Assembly Operator — the three main assembly line sections
- Engine and Powertrain Operator — machining and assembly, now including Talegaon
- Battery Pack Assembly Technician — a newer role at Sriperumbudur following the EV battery facility
- Material Handling and Logistics Operator — line feeding and internal movement
Quality and Inspection Roles
- Line Inspector and Quality Control Inspector
- Metrology Technician — dimensional measurement and gauge control

Supervisory and Staff Roles
- Line Leader and Shift Supervisor
- Production Engineer and Process Engineer
- EHS Officer
- Stores, Dispatch and Supply Chain roles
A Note on Dealership Roles
Hyundai runs a large service technician career track through its dealer network — Service Support Technician, Body Repair Technician, Painter and Service Advisor roles. These are genuine jobs with a clear ladder, but they sit at dealerships, not at the plants. If a training programme mentions placement at Hyundai dealerships, that is the track it leads to.
Daily Responsibilities
Car assembly is paced by the line, and that single fact shapes the entire working day.
A Typical Line Operator Shift
The shift opens with a handover, a safety briefing and a check of tools and torque equipment. Once the line starts, each operator has a fixed cycle time to complete their allocated operations before the body moves on.
Through the shift the operator repeats that defined sequence, records abnormalities, and stops the line or calls the leader when something is wrong. Rotation between stations is common, both to reduce fatigue and to build multi-skilling.
A Typical Maintenance Shift
Maintenance teams work preventive schedules during planned stoppages and respond to breakdowns during running hours. At a high-volume plant like Sriperumbudur, where the line runs at speed, response time is the metric that matters most.
Robotics technicians spend much of their time on fault diagnosis, teaching points, sensor alignment and consumable changes on welding guns and paint applicators.
A Typical Quality Shift
Quality staff carry out in-process audits, end-of-line inspection and rectification follow-up. They log defects, trace them to a station or supplier, and support countermeasure work when a trend emerges.
The work is documentation-heavy and suits methodical people. It also offers a clearer route into engineering roles than pure line operation.
Working Conditions to Expect
- Rotational shifts, with three-shift working as Talegaon ramps up
- Fixed cycle times and documented standard operating procedures
- Mandatory safety shoes, gloves, ear and eye protection
- Standing work for most of the shift
- Company transport, canteen and medical cover, standard at plants of this scale
- Strict discipline on attendance and safety compliance
Required Skills
Korean-managed plants in India are known for process discipline and precise standard work. That shapes what they screen for.
Technical Skills
- Reading work instructions, standard operating procedures and basic drawings
- Correct use of torque wrenches, nut runners and hand tools
- Measurement with vernier caliper, micrometer and gauges
- Basic hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical safety
- Accurate recording of production and quality data
- Familiarity with 5S, Kaizen and standard work concepts
Safety and Compliance
- Correct PPE use without prompting
- Lockout-tagout discipline before machine intervention
- Stopping and reporting rather than improvising a fix
- Emergency response familiarity
- Honest near-miss reporting
Language and Location
At Sriperumbudur the shop-floor language is Tamil, with English used for documentation and systems. At Talegaon it is Marathi and Hindi. Functional English is genuinely useful at both, because work instructions, quality records and system screens are in English.
Personal Qualities That Get You Hired
- Attendance discipline, tracked closely and weighted heavily at confirmation
- Willingness to work rotational shifts including nights
- Physical fitness for standing work at a fixed cycle time
- Consistency — performing the same operation correctly every time
- Team behaviour and clean handovers
Education Requirements
Hyundai does not publish plant-level eligibility criteria the way some Indian manufacturers do. This section sets out what the qualifications actually mean in practice for a car plant of this type.
After 10th Standard
A 10th pass alone is not a realistic entry point for a modern car assembly plant. The productive step is a Government ITI trade, which takes one to two years and costs very little at a state ITI.
The ITI Route
These are the Craftsmen Training Scheme trades designated by the Directorate General of Training that map onto car manufacturing. Hyundai does not publish a trade list, so treat this as sector guidance rather than a company requirement.
| ITI trade | Duration | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Fitter | 2 years | Assembly, mechanical maintenance |
| Electrician | 2 years | Plant electricals |
| Welder | 1 year | Body and weld shop |
| Turner | 2 years | Machine shop |
| Machinist | 2 years | Engine component machining |
| Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) | 2 years | Assembly, vehicle testing |
| Electronics Mechanic | 2 years | Controls, automation support |
| Instrument Mechanic | 2 years | Calibration and instrumentation |
| Tool and Die Maker | 2 years | Press tooling, tool room |
| Painter (General) | 2 years | Paint shop |
| Technician Mechatronics | 2 years | Robotics and automation |
Mechatronics and Electronics Mechanic deserve particular attention. As plants automate and add EV battery assembly, those trades are gaining ground on the traditional mechanical ones.
After 12th Standard
A 12th pass with Science combined with an ITI certificate is a solid profile for plant hiring. A 12th pass on its own is more suited to stores, dispatch and administrative support roles.
Diploma and Degree Routes
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile or Mechatronics — technician and junior engineering roles
- B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical, Electronics or Production — graduate engineering roles in manufacturing, quality and R&D
- Engineering roles at Hyundai Motor India Engineering, the group’s R&D centre in Hyderabad, which recruits separately from the manufacturing business
Documents to Keep Ready
- ITI certificate with NCVT or SCVT marking, or diploma marksheets
- 10th and 12th certificates
- Aadhaar and PAN
- Bank account details
- Passport-size photographs
- Any previous experience or relieving letters
Professional Certifications
The trade certificate decides eligibility. Everything else improves your position at shortlisting or promotion.
Core Certification
- National Trade Certificate (NTC) — awarded on completing an ITI trade under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, with NCVT or SCVT marking
- National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) — awarded on completing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961
Safety Certifications
- Industrial safety certificate or diploma
- First aid and fire safety training
- Forklift and material handling equipment licences
- High-voltage safety training — increasingly relevant as EV battery assembly expands at Sriperumbudur
Quality and Process Certifications
- IATF 16949 awareness, the automotive quality management standard
- ISO 9001 internal auditor training
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt
- Statistical process control fundamentals
Skills Worth Adding on Your Own
Basic computer literacy is expected on the line because production and quality data is entered digitally. Familiarity with a touchscreen HMI, an ERP screen and basic Excel is worth acquiring before you apply.
Training Programs
This section needs a clear distinction that most job pages blur, because getting it wrong wastes months.
Dealership Training — What Hyundai Publishes
Hyundai operates a substantial technical training network: 8 regional learning centres, 14 Hyundai Technical Training Academies, 5 Hyundai Body Shop Academies, and an ITI and polytechnic tie-up programme spanning 83 institutions, comprising 62 ITIs and 21 polytechnics. It also runs academies with the Automotive Skills Development Council producing service support technicians.
These are excellent programmes and they lead to real jobs. But the company’s own material describes placement at Hyundai dealerships. This is the service network career track, not plant recruitment.
If your goal is a workshop career — diagnostics, repair, body and paint, service advisory — this is exactly the route you want, and the ITI tie-up is a strong entry. If your goal is a manufacturing plant job, it is not the same path.
Plant Entry — What Is Actually Available
Hyundai does not publish a named plant apprenticeship, graduate engineer trainee or diploma trainee scheme on its official site the way some Indian manufacturers do. Openings, including plant roles, appear on its careers portal at careers.hyundai.co.in, which runs on a standard applicant tracking system with registration and job search.
That means the practical route is monitoring the portal directly and applying to specific requisitions, rather than waiting for an annual scheme announcement.
Apprenticeship Stipend Rates
Where apprenticeships are offered by any employer in India, they are governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961 and carry statutory minimum stipends set by government notification. Following the revision effective September 2025, the prescribed minimums are:
| Category | Minimum monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Class 10 pass-outs | ₹8,200 |
| Class 12 pass-outs | ₹9,600 |
| ITI / National or State Certificate holders | ₹9,600 |
| Vocational or 2-year diploma holders | ₹9,600 |
| Technician (diploma) apprentices | ₹10,900 |
| Graduate and degree apprentices | ₹12,300 |
The Tamil Nadu Skill Centre
The joint Hyundai and Tamil Nadu government skill centre is due to begin operations in December 2027, covering EV training, hydrogen mobility, robotics, automation and smart manufacturing, with the state partnering ITIs, polytechnics and engineering colleges.
Details of location, intake and admission had not been published at the time of writing. For anyone currently studying in Tamil Nadu, it is worth watching official state skill development announcements rather than third-party job blogs.
Salary Guide
Hyundai does not publish shop-floor pay bands, and neither do its peers. This section separates the documented from the indicative.
What Is Documented
Apprentice stipends carry the statutory minimums in the table above — ₹9,600 a month for ITI-qualified apprentices, ₹10,900 for technician diploma apprentices.
Permanent workmen at large plants are covered by state minimum wage notifications and, at unionised sites, by long-term wage settlements negotiated between management and the workers’ union. Those settlements are plant-specific and not published.
Indicative Ranges by Role
The ranges below are broad indicative figures for passenger vehicle manufacturing in India generally. They are not Hyundai figures and should be confirmed at interview.
| Role | Indicative annual range (CTC) |
|---|---|
| Apprentice (stipend basis) | ₹1.15 – ₹1.5 lakh |
| Contract or temporary operator | ₹1.8 – ₹2.8 lakh |
| Permanent line operator | ₹2.5 – ₹4.5 lakh |
| Maintenance technician | ₹3.0 – ₹5.5 lakh |
| Robotics / automation technician | ₹3.5 – ₹6.0 lakh |
| Quality inspector | ₹2.8 – ₹5.0 lakh |
| Diploma engineer trainee | ₹2.4 – ₹3.6 lakh |
| Line leader / shift supervisor | ₹4.5 – ₹8.0 lakh |
| Graduate engineer | ₹6.0 – ₹12.0 lakh |
Treat any precise CTC or vacancy count on job blogs and Telegram channels as unverified unless it appears on the official portal.
What Actually Increases Your Pay
- Conversion from contract to the permanent rolls — the largest single jump available, and given permanent worker attrition of 0.4%, a position people hold onto
- Multi-skilling across shops, particularly into maintenance or robotics
- High-voltage and EV battery competence, a genuinely scarce skill
- Shift allowances, overtime and production incentives
- Promotion into line leader and supervisory grades
Employee Benefits
Hyundai has been certified a Top Employer in India for three consecutive years, ranked first in the automobile sector in January 2026, which reflects the strength of its employment practices for permanent staff.
Statutory Benefits
- Provident Fund (EPF) — employer and employee contributions
- Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) — medical cover below the wage threshold
- Gratuity — payable after five years of continuous service
- Paid leave — earned, casual and sick leave under the Factories Act and state rules
- Bonus — under the Payment of Bonus Act, where applicable
- Maternity benefit — under the Maternity Benefit Act
Common Plant Benefits
Large automotive plants in India typically provide subsidised canteen meals, company transport from surrounding towns, uniforms and full protective equipment, group medical insurance, shift allowances and production or attendance incentives.
Hyundai reported providing health and safety training to its workforce and skill upgradation training to 86% of employees in FY2024-25, though only 13% of permanent workers received skill upgradation training in that year — a useful signal that training access differs sharply between the employee and worker categories.
What to Confirm Before Accepting
- Whether the role is apprentice, contract, fixed-term or permanent — this is the most consequential question
- Whether the figure quoted is stipend, gross, CTC or take-home
- Shift pattern and how shift allowance is calculated
- Whether transport and canteen are free or deducted
- Criteria and realistic timeline for conversion to permanent
Career Progression
Progression at a car plant runs through defined grades, and the first step is the one that matters most.
The Shop-Floor Ladder
| Stage | Typical duration | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Year 0–1 | Apprentice or contract operator |
| Confirmed | Year 1–3 | Permanent operator or technician |
| Multi-skilled | Year 3–7 | Senior operator, relief operator, maintenance technician |
| Supervisory | Year 7–12 | Line leader, shift supervisor |
| Management | Year 12+ | Section head, assistant manager, shop functions |
The Reality of Conversion
Be clear-eyed about this. With roughly 11,000 non-permanent workers against 2,210 permanent ones in FY2024-25, and permanent worker attrition at 0.4%, permanent positions open up slowly.
That is not a reason to avoid the employer — contract experience at a plant of this calibre is genuinely valuable and transfers well. But it is a reason to keep building your qualifications while you are there rather than waiting passively for conversion.
The Engineering Ladder
Diploma and B.Tech entrants follow a faster parallel track through trainee engineer, engineer and senior engineer or assistant manager grades, moving into process engineering, maintenance management, quality or new model launch teams.
How to Move Faster
First, specialise into a scarce skill. Robotics, automation and high-voltage battery work are where demand is growing fastest and where fewer people are qualified.
Second, use contract time deliberately. Add a certification, learn a second shop, get named on an improvement project.
Third, keep your applications live across the sector. Chennai and Pune are both dense automotive clusters, and experience at Hyundai is a strong credential elsewhere.
Top Employers
Hyundai’s two plants sit in two of India’s biggest automotive clusters, which means the alternatives are close by.
Major Vehicle Manufacturers in India
- Hyundai Motor India — Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu and Talegaon, Maharashtra
- Maruti Suzuki — Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, Hansalpur in Gujarat
- Tata Motors — Jamshedpur, Pune, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Dharwad, Sanand, Panapakkam
- Mahindra & Mahindra — Chakan, Nashik, Kandivali, Igatpuri, Zaheerabad, Haridwar
- Kia India — Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh
- Toyota Kirloskar Motor — Bidadi, Karnataka
- Renault Nissan Automotive India — Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, in the same cluster as Sriperumbudur
- Ashok Leyland — Ennore and Hosur in Tamil Nadu
- TVS Motor — Hosur, Tamil Nadu
The Two Clusters
This is the practical point. Around Sriperumbudur and Oragadam in Tamil Nadu sit Hyundai, Renault Nissan, and a dense belt of tier-one suppliers. Around Chakan, Talegaon and Pimpri-Chinchwad in Pune sit Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, plus their supplier networks.
Relocating into either cluster multiplies the number of employers within commuting distance. That is worth more than any single application.
How to Apply to Hyundai
Applications go through the official careers portal at careers.hyundai.co.in, which requires registration and lists current openings. The company’s careers overview page sits on the Hyundai India website.
Hyundai publishes an official recruitment contact — the email address hiring@hmil.net and the phone number 044-47100000 — which you can use to verify whether any communication is genuine.
How to Spot Fake Hyundai Job Offers
Hyundai publishes a fraud warning stating that it has a set recruitment process and does not ask candidates to deposit or pay any money for employment. It specifically warns about fraudulent agencies posing as HMIL representatives and sending fake interview emails.
Treat it as fraudulent if:
- Any fee is demanded — registration, security deposit, medical, training, uniform or file charges
- An interview call or offer letter arrives from an address that is not a company domain
- You are asked to send Aadhaar, PAN or bank details over WhatsApp
- The message manufactures urgency — limited seats, apply before tonight
- A specific vacancy count and CTC is quoted that does not appear on the official portal
- The apply link is a Google Form, a Telegram channel or a shortened URL
- An agency offers a guaranteed Hyundai job for a placement fee
Verify like this:
- Check the opening on careers.hyundai.co.in before responding to anything
- Use the company’s published verification channels — hiring@hmil.net or 044-47100000
- Remember that no genuine employer in India charges a candidate for a job
If money is demanded, report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call the cyber crime helpline 1930. Hyundai’s own notice also advises reporting to local police.

Future Industry Trends
Three shifts will shape these jobs over the next five years, and Hyundai has been explicit about all of them.
The EV Transition in Tamil Nadu
Hyundai named Tamil Nadu its flagship EV hub for India in June 2026, with two new models rolling out from Chennai and its first mass-market dedicated EV expected within 2026. The Creta Electric and IONIQ 5 are already in market, with battery packs assembled locally.
EV assembly changes the skill mix — less engine work, more high-voltage systems, battery handling and electrical safety. High-voltage safety competence is likely to be one of the most valuable credentials a plant technician can add over the next few years.
Capacity Growth in Maharashtra
Talegaon expands from 170,000 units to 250,000 by 2028 and 320,000 by 2030. Combined group capacity rises from 994,000 units now to 1.14 million by 2030, supported by a ₹45,000 crore investment plan across FY2026 to FY2030 and 26 new products or variants planned by 2030.
Localisation and the Supplier Base
The company plans to raise localisation from 82% to 90% over five to six years, with supplier purchasing up by ₹4,000 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. Deeper localisation means more component manufacturing in India, and component makers hire far more ITI holders than assembly plants do.
For a job seeker, that is arguably the more important trend. The supplier ecosystem is where the volume hiring happens.
Related Careers
If plant work is not the right fit, the same ITI qualification opens several adjacent paths — including one Hyundai actively trains for.
The Dealership Service Track
Hyundai’s technical training academies and its tie-ups with 62 ITIs and 21 polytechnics feed the dealer service network. Roles include service support technician, body repair technician, painter and service advisor, progressing to workshop manager.
It is a legitimate and well-supported career with faster entry than plant work, and the training is provided. If you are in an ITI with a Hyundai tie-up, this is the path that programme actually leads to.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hyundai recruitment 2026 officially open?
Hyundai recruits on a rolling basis through its careers portal at careers.hyundai.co.in rather than through an annual notification or exam. Any notice claiming a fixed Hyundai recruitment exam or last date outside that portal should be treated with caution.
Where are Hyundai plants located in India?
There are two. The first is at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Irrungattukottai, Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, operating since 1998. The second is at MIDC Talegaon in Pune district, Maharashtra, acquired from General Motors, where vehicle production began in October 2025.
What is the minimum qualification for Hyundai plant jobs?
Hyundai does not publish plant-level eligibility criteria. In practice, car assembly plants in India recruit ITI holders with NCVT or SCVT certification for shop-floor roles, diploma holders for technician roles, and B.Tech graduates for engineering positions.
Does the Hyundai ITI tie-up lead to a plant job?
No, and this is important. Hyundai’s tie-up programme across 62 ITIs and 21 polytechnics, along with its technical training academies, is described by the company as leading to placement at Hyundai dealerships. It is a service network career track, not plant recruitment. Both are real careers, but they are different paths.
How many people does Hyundai employ in India?
The company reported a total workforce of 17,032 for FY2024-25, comprising 3,871 permanent employees, 2,210 permanent workers and 10,951 other-than-permanent workers. In its thirty-year communication in May 2026 it said it had created 15,000 to 18,000 direct jobs in India.
Does Hyundai charge a fee for recruitment?
No. Hyundai publishes a warning stating it has a set recruitment process and does not ask candidates to deposit or pay any money for employment. Verify suspicious communication using hiring@hmil.net or 044-47100000, and report demands for money at cybercrime.gov.in or on helpline 1930.
Is Hyundai hiring at the Talegaon plant near Pune?
The Talegaon plant began vehicle production in October 2025 and is scheduled to expand from 170,000 units a year to 250,000 by 2028 and 320,000 by 2030. Management has indicated the higher figures require three-shift operation, which implies phased hiring. Openings are advertised through the official careers portal.
How much does a Hyundai plant worker earn?
The company does not publish pay bands. Where apprenticeships apply, statutory minimum stipends are ₹9,600 a month for ITI holders and ₹10,900 for technician diploma apprentices. Contract and permanent operator pay varies by plant, state and grade, and should be confirmed directly with the employer.
Which ITI trade is best for a Hyundai plant job?
Hyundai does not publish a trade list. Across car manufacturing generally, Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Machinist and Tool and Die Maker are the traditional trades. Technician Mechatronics and Electronics Mechanic are gaining ground as plants automate and add EV battery assembly.
Is it hard to get a permanent job at Hyundai?
Permanent shop-floor positions are limited relative to contract ones, and the company reported permanent worker attrition of just 0.4% in FY2024-25, meaning very few positions turn over. Contract experience is still valuable and transfers well across the Chennai and Pune automotive clusters.
Final Summary
Hyundai Motor India is one of the largest and most export-oriented car manufacturers in the country, with two plants, close to a million units of annual capacity, and a ₹45,000 crore investment plan running to 2030. For an ITI or diploma holder in Tamil Nadu or Maharashtra, it is a serious employer worth targeting.
The most useful thing this guide can tell you is where the confusion lies. Hyundai’s visible training network — the 14 technical academies, the tie-ups with 62 ITIs and 21 polytechnics — leads to the dealership service network, not to the assembly plants. Both are real careers. Choosing between them deliberately, rather than by accident, will save you a year.
For plant work, the route is the official careers portal. There is no published annual scheme to wait for, so monitoring the portal and applying to specific requisitions is the approach that works.
Be realistic about the structure. Around five out of six shop-floor workers were on non-permanent terms in the latest disclosure, and permanent positions turn over rarely. Treat contract experience as valuable in itself, keep adding qualifications while you hold it, and target the scarce skills — robotics, automation and high-voltage battery work — where demand is growing fastest.
Finally, apply only through careers.hyundai.co.in. Hyundai states plainly that it does not ask candidates to deposit or pay any money for employment, and publishes an email address and phone number specifically so you can verify a suspicious approach. Use them before you pay anything, share any document, or travel anywhere.
