Anúncios
Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in India and, on the shop floor, one of the largest industrial employers in the country. Across its plants in Haryana and Gujarat, the group’s Indian operations account for more than 45,000 employees and workers.
Most of those jobs are not office jobs. They are press shop, weld shop, paint shop, assembly and maintenance roles filled by ITI holders, diploma holders and apprentices — and the company runs two clearly defined entry schemes for exactly those candidates.
The company is also in the middle of the biggest capacity build-out in its history. The Kharkhoda plant in Sonipat was formally inaugurated in July 2026, and a second mega-site at Khoraj in Gujarat is committed. Both carry official job-creation numbers running into tens of thousands.
This guide explains what the plant jobs are, who is eligible, what the official entry routes actually require, and how to apply through the company’s own portal. It is a career guide, not a vacancy notice.

Industry Overview
India is now one of the largest passenger vehicle markets in the world, and the assembly plants that serve it are among the most sophisticated factories in the country. For a job seeker with a trade qualification, they are also among the most structured employers.
Where Maruti Suzuki Sits
Maruti Suzuki India Limited was incorporated in 1981 and is majority owned by Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, which held 58.65% of the company as on 30 June 2026. It sells through the ARENA and NEXA retail networks, with True Value handling pre-owned vehicles.
In FY2025-26 the company recorded net sales of ₹1.74 lakh crore, up 20.2% year on year, on sales of 24,22,713 vehicles. Production crossed 23.4 lakh units, an all-time high for the company.
The Manufacturing Footprint
The group’s Indian production runs across four locations, two of which are relatively new.
| Plant | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gurugram | Old Palam Gurugram Road, Gurugram, Haryana | The original plant, operating since the 1980s |
| Manesar | IMT Manesar, Gurugram district, Haryana | Three plants; capacity raised to 900,000 units a year in 2024 |
| Kharkhoda | IMT Kharkhoda, Sonipat district, Haryana | Plant 1 from February 2025, Plant 2 from May 2026; 500,000 units a year |
| Hansalpur | Near Becharaji, Ahmedabad district, Gujarat | Operated by Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary; 750,000 units a year |
A fifth site at Khoraj near Sanand in Gujarat has been committed but is not yet producing. Production there is targeted from FY2029.
Why This Matters for Job Seekers
Two of the four operating sites opened or expanded within the last eighteen months. New plants hire differently from mature ones — they take on large intakes at once, they recruit locally, and they run heavier apprentice and trainee programmes because the workforce has to be built from scratch.
That is why Sonipat district in Haryana and Ahmedabad district in Gujarat are currently the two most active geographies for anyone chasing a Maruti Suzuki shop-floor job.
Current Demand
Demand for plant staff at Maruti Suzuki is driven by capacity expansion, and the numbers involved are unusually well documented because both new sites carry state-level investment commitments.
The Kharkhoda Build-Out
The Kharkhoda facility in Sonipat district was formally inaugurated on 2 July 2026 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi. The company has stated a projected total investment of ₹35,000 crore at the site and says the project is creating over 21,000 jobs.
The site spans 800 acres with an integrated supplier park, and is planned to scale from 500,000 to one million units a year. That supplier park matters as much as the plant itself, because component makers cluster around assembly plants and hire from the same local pool.
The Gujarat Commitment
In January 2026 the Gujarat government and Maruti Suzuki exchanged an investment letter for a new manufacturing plant at Khoraj, near Sanand. The stated investment is ₹35,000 crore across 1,750 acres, with four units of 250,000 units each for a total of one million vehicles a year, and production targeted from FY2029.
The company has publicly stated that the project will create over 12,000 direct jobs and support around 7.5 lakh indirect livelihoods through ancillary units and MSME clusters.
Separately, a fourth production line at the existing Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant at Hansalpur, involving ₹3,200 crore, is due to become operational in FY2026-27 and will take that site to one million units a year.
How the Workforce Is Actually Structured
The company’s most recent published Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report, covering FY2024-25, breaks the workforce down as follows.
| Category | Permanent | Other than permanent | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Employees | 14,280 | 1,621 | 15,901 |
| Workers | 5,686 | 24,358 | 30,044 |
| Combined | 19,966 | 25,979 | 45,945 |
Read that table carefully, because it is the single most useful thing on this page. Of roughly 30,000 workers, about 24,000 were on other-than-permanent terms. Contract and flexi employment is the normal entry point at this scale, not the exception.
The practical implication is straightforward. Getting in is realistic. Getting confirmed onto the permanent rolls is the actual career milestone, and it is what you should be optimising for from day one.
Job Roles
A car plant is organised into shops, and each shop has its own skill profile. Knowing the sequence tells you where a given ITI trade fits.
Production Shop Roles
- Press Shop Operator — running stamping presses that form body panels from steel coil
- Weld Shop Operator — operating and tending robotic and manual welding stations that build the body-in-white
- Paint Shop Operator — pre-treatment, primer, base coat, clear coat and inspection
- Assembly Line Operator — fitting trim, engine, transmission, electricals, glass and interiors
- Engine and Transmission Assembly Operator — powertrain sub-assembly
- Material Handling Operator — line feeding, kitting and internal logistics
Quality and Inspection Roles
- Quality Inspector — in-process and end-of-line checks against defined standards
- Measurement and Metrology Technician — dimensional verification of panels and assemblies
- Vehicle Testing Technician — roll test, water test, road test and rectification
- Supplier Quality Assistant — incoming component inspection
Maintenance and Engineering Roles
- Maintenance Fitter — mechanical upkeep of presses, conveyors and jigs
- Electrical Technician — plant power distribution, panels and motors
- Robotics and Automation Technician — robot teaching, fault clearance and preventive care
- Instrumentation Technician — sensors, controls and calibration
- Utilities Operator — compressed air, chillers, effluent treatment, paint shop utilities
- Tool and Die Maintenance Technician — die repair and press tooling
Supervisory and Staff Roles
- Team Leader and Shift In-charge on the production line
- Production Engineer and Process Engineer
- Safety and Environment Officer
- Stores, Dispatch and Supply Chain roles
- Assistant Manager, the entry designation for engineering graduates hired through the company’s all-India engineering intake
Daily Responsibilities
Car assembly work is paced by the line. That single fact shapes everything about the day, and it is the biggest adjustment for anyone coming from a workshop or job-shop background.
A Typical Line Operator Shift
Shifts begin with a handover, a safety briefing and a check of the station’s tools and torque equipment. The line then starts, and each operator has a fixed cycle time to complete their allocated operations before the vehicle moves on.
Through the shift the operator performs the same defined sequence repeatedly, records any abnormality, and pulls the andon cord or calls the team leader when something is wrong. Rotation between stations is common to reduce fatigue and build multi-skilling.
A Typical Maintenance Shift
Maintenance staff work to a preventive schedule during planned stoppages and respond to breakdowns during running hours. On an assembly line a stopped station halts everything downstream, so response time is the metric that matters.
Robot and automation technicians spend much of their time on fault diagnosis, teaching points, sensor alignment and consumable changes on welding guns and paint applicators.
A Typical Quality Shift
Quality staff carry out in-process audits, end-of-line inspection and rectification follow-up. They log defects, trace them back to the station or supplier, and support countermeasure work when a trend appears.
This is documentation-heavy work and suits people who are methodical. It also tends to have a clearer promotion path into engineering roles than pure line operation.
Working Conditions to Expect
- Rotational shifts, typically covering the full day across two or three shifts
- Fixed cycle times and defined standard operating procedures
- Mandatory safety shoes, gloves, ear protection and eye protection
- Standing work for most of the shift, with defined breaks
- Subsidised canteen meals, uniform and shoes, which the company lists as standard for its apprentice and workmen schemes
- Strict discipline on attendance, punctuality and safety compliance
Required Skills
Automotive assembly employers screen for a narrow and very practical set of abilities. Presenting them clearly on your application matters more than a long CV.
Technical Skills
- Reading work instructions, standard operating procedures and basic drawings
- Using torque wrenches, nut runners and hand tools correctly
- Measuring with vernier caliper, micrometer and gauges
- Understanding basic pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical safety
- Recording production and quality data accurately
- Familiarity with 5S, Kaizen, poka-yoke and basic lean concepts
Japanese-origin manufacturers place unusual weight on the last item. Terms like kaizen, muda, gemba and poka-yoke are used routinely on the shop floor, and candidates who already understand them settle in faster.
Safety and Discipline
- Correct PPE use without supervision
- Lockout-tagout awareness before any machine intervention
- Stopping the line and reporting rather than working around a problem
- Emergency response and evacuation familiarity
- Honest near-miss reporting
Language and Communication
At the Haryana plants, Hindi is the working language of the shop floor. At Hansalpur in Gujarat, Gujarati and Hindi both work. Basic functional English is useful everywhere because work instructions, quality records and system screens are usually in English.
Personal Qualities That Get You Hired
- Attendance discipline, which is tracked closely and weighs heavily at confirmation
- Willingness to work rotational shifts
- Physical fitness for standing work at a fixed cycle time
- Consistency — doing the same operation correctly every time
- Team behaviour and clean handovers
Education Requirements
Maruti Suzuki publishes its shop-floor eligibility criteria openly, which is unusual and makes this section unusually concrete.
The ITI Route — What the Company Actually Requires
For its workmen hiring, the company specifies Government ITI pass-outs only, with NCVT or SCVT certification. Private ITI certification outside these frameworks is not accepted.
The trades the company lists as accepted are:
| Accepted ITI trade | Where it typically fits |
|---|---|
| Fitter | Assembly, mechanical maintenance |
| Welder | Weld shop, fabrication |
| Painter (General) | Paint shop |
| Electrician | Plant electricals, maintenance |
| Turner | Machine shop, tooling |
| Diesel Mechanic | Powertrain, utilities |
| Machinist | Machine shop |
| Tool & Die | Press shop tooling, die maintenance |
| Motor Mechanic Vehicle | Assembly, vehicle testing |
| Tractor Mechanic | Assembly, maintenance |
The company also notes that other relevant trades may be considered as per requirement, so a closely related trade is worth applying with rather than ruling yourself out.
Age and Recency Conditions
These conditions are strict and are the most common reason applications are filtered out.
- Apprentice scheme — age 18 to 23 years on joining, with the ITI passing year within the last five years up to the current year
- Flexi and temporary workmen — age 18 to 26 years, NCVT or SCVT certified
If you passed your ITI more than five years ago, the apprentice route is closed to you, but the workmen route may still be open depending on your age. Check both before assuming you are ineligible.
After 10th and 12th Standard
A 10th or 12th pass certificate on its own does not meet the published criteria for these schemes. The realistic sequence for a school leaver is to complete a Government ITI in one of the listed trades first, then apply.
That is a one to two year detour, and it is the single highest-return decision available to anyone reading this who does not yet hold a trade certificate.
Diploma and Degree Routes
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile or Mechatronics — technician and junior engineering roles
- B.Tech or M.Tech — the company runs an all-India engineering intake for freshers, with the entry designation Assistant Manager and postings at Rohtak, Gurgaon, Manesar and pan-India
- Postgraduate and professional qualifications — finance, HR, supply chain and commercial functions
Documents to Keep Ready
- ITI certificate with NCVT or SCVT marking, plus all semester marksheets
- 10th and 12th certificates for date of birth proof
- Aadhaar and PAN
- Bank account details
- Passport-size photographs
- Any previous experience or relieving letters
Professional Certifications
In automotive manufacturing, the trade certificate is the qualification that counts. Everything else is a supplement that helps at shortlisting or at promotion.
Core Trade Certification
- National Trade Certificate (NTC) — issued on completing a Government ITI trade under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, with NCVT or SCVT marking
- National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) — issued on completing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961
Holding both is the strongest shop-floor profile available in India. It demonstrates classroom training plus supervised industrial experience, and it is exactly the combination the apprentice-then-workmen pathway is designed to produce.
Safety and Compliance Certifications
- Industrial safety certificate or diploma, valuable for supervisory and EHS roles
- First aid and fire safety training
- Forklift and material handling equipment operation licences
Quality and Process Certifications
- IATF 16949 awareness training, the automotive quality management standard
- ISO 9001 internal auditor training
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt
- Statistical process control fundamentals
Skills Worth Adding on Your Own
Basic computer literacy is now expected on the line because production and quality data is entered digitally. Familiarity with a touchscreen HMI, an ERP screen and basic Excel is worth acquiring before you apply, not after.
Training Programs
Maruti Suzuki runs a more formalised training structure than most Indian manufacturers, partly because of its Japanese parentage and partly because new plants require large trained intakes.
The Apprentice Scheme
This is the main shop-floor entry door. It runs for one year, is open to Government ITI pass-outs aged 18 to 23 with NCVT or SCVT certification, and is based at Gurgaon and Manesar. The company describes the stipend as being in line with industry standards, and includes subsidised meals, uniform and shoes.
Apprenticeship in India is governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961 and carries a statutory minimum stipend set by government notification. Following a revision effective from September 2025, the prescribed minimums are:
| Category | Minimum monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Class 10 pass-outs | ₹8,200 |
| Class 12 pass-outs | ₹9,600 |
| ITI / National or State Certificate holders | ₹9,600 |
| Vocational or 2-year diploma holders | ₹9,600 |
| Technician (diploma) apprentices | ₹10,900 |
| Graduate and degree apprentices | ₹12,300 |
These are floors, not ceilings. Large manufacturers commonly pay above them to attract candidates, but the notified amount is what you can rely on.
Flexi and Temporary Workmen
The second published route takes candidates aged 18 to 26 with NCVT or SCVT certification, for a duration set by company requirement. It is a direct production role rather than a training scheme, and it is how a large share of the shop floor is staffed.
The Selection Process
The company publishes its selection sequence, which is worth preparing against specifically.
- Online assessment covering technical knowledge, aptitude and behaviour
- Personal interview with HR and a technical panel
- Antecedent verification
- Pre-employment medical examination
- Joining and onboarding
- Induction and training
The online assessment is the stage that eliminates most candidates. Revising your ITI trade theory and practising basic aptitude questions before applying is the highest-value preparation you can do.
Maruti Suzuki Training Academy
Established in 2012, the academy is a registered Vocational Training Provider under the Skill Development Initiative of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and is authorised by the Directorate General of Training to run Craftsmen Training Scheme courses in Automotive Repair as a two-year programme.
Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing
The JIM network was created under a memorandum of collaboration between India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Japan’s METI, signed in November 2016. Maruti Suzuki states that four JIMs have been established under its umbrella, with 2,600 students trained cumulatively, and hostels planned at JIM Sonipat and JIM Manesar.
JIM centres run one-year trades such as Mechanic Diesel Engine, Mechanic Auto Body Repair, Welder and Mechanic Auto Body Painting, and two-year trades including Electrician, Fitter, Technician Mechatronics, Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Electronics Mechanic. For a candidate near Gurugram or Sonipat, a JIM is a well-aligned place to train.
Salary Guide
Maruti Suzuki does not publish salary bands for shop-floor roles, and neither do its peers. This section separates what is legally fixed and verifiable from what is only indicative.
What Is Legally Fixed
Apprentice stipends are prescribed by government notification and are the most reliable numbers available, as set out in the table in the previous section. For an ITI-qualified apprentice the notified minimum is ₹9,600 per month.
Beyond apprenticeship, permanent workmen at large plants are covered by state minimum wage notifications and, at unionised sites, by long-term wage settlements negotiated between management and the workers’ union. Those settlements are plant-specific and are not published.
Indicative Ranges by Role
The following are broad indicative ranges for passenger vehicle manufacturing roles in India generally. They are not Maruti Suzuki figures and should be confirmed with the employer at interview.
| Role | Indicative annual range (CTC) |
|---|---|
| Apprentice (stipend basis) | ₹1.15 – ₹1.5 lakh |
| Flexi or temporary workman | ₹1.8 – ₹2.8 lakh |
| Permanent line operator | ₹2.5 – ₹4.5 lakh |
| Maintenance technician | ₹3.0 – ₹5.5 lakh |
| Quality inspector | ₹2.8 – ₹5.0 lakh |
| Diploma engineer trainee | ₹2.4 – ₹3.6 lakh |
| Team leader / shift in-charge | ₹4.5 – ₹8.0 lakh |
| Assistant Manager (engineering entry) | ₹8.0 – ₹14.0 lakh |
Treat any specific salary figure circulating on job blogs and Telegram channels as unverified. Several currently claim precise CTC and vacancy counts for Kharkhoda hiring that no company source supports.
What Actually Increases Your Pay
- Conversion from apprentice or flexi status to the permanent rolls — by far the largest single jump
- Multi-skilling across more than one shop or trade
- Shift allowances, overtime and production incentives
- Promotion into team leader and supervisory grades
- Long-term wage settlements at unionised plants, which lift entire grades at once
Employee Benefits
The benefits attached to an organised-sector manufacturing job in India are substantial, and much of the package is statutory rather than discretionary.
Statutory Benefits
- Provident Fund (EPF) — employer and employee contributions toward retirement savings
- Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) — medical cover for employees below the wage threshold
- Gratuity — payable after five years of continuous service
- Paid leave — earned, casual and sick leave under the Factories Act and state rules
- Bonus — under the Payment of Bonus Act, where applicable
- Maternity benefit — under the Maternity Benefit Act
Benefits the Company Publishes
For its apprentice and workmen schemes, Maruti Suzuki specifically lists subsidised meals, uniform and shoes. Large automotive plants in India also commonly provide company transport from surrounding towns, group medical insurance, shift allowances and attendance or production incentives.
What to Confirm Before Accepting
- Whether the role is apprentice, flexi, fixed-term or permanent — these differ enormously in pay and security
- Whether the quoted figure is stipend, gross, CTC or take-home
- Shift pattern and how shift allowance is calculated
- Whether transport and canteen are free or deducted
- What the criteria and timeline are for conversion to permanent
That last question is the one candidates most often forget to ask, and it is the one that determines what the job is actually worth over five years.
Career Progression
Automotive manufacturing careers in India move through defined grades. The ladder is visible, which makes planning easier than in most sectors.
The Shop-Floor Ladder
| Stage | Typical duration | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | Year 0–1 | Apprentice or flexi workman |
| Confirmed | Year 1–3 | Permanent line operator or technician |
| Multi-skilled | Year 3–7 | Senior operator, relief operator, maintenance technician |
| Supervisory | Year 7–12 | Team leader, shift in-charge |
| Management | Year 12+ | Section head, assistant manager, shop functions |
The Engineering Ladder
Diploma and B.Tech entrants follow a faster parallel track. Engineering graduates enter at Assistant Manager level through the all-India engineering intake and move into production engineering, maintenance management, quality, or new model launch teams.
How to Move Faster
Three things consistently shorten the climb.
First, get confirmed. Apprentice and flexi status is where careers stall, so treat conversion as the immediate objective rather than chasing a marginally better stipend at another plant.
Second, multi-skill deliberately. An operator who can also cover a maintenance task, or who has worked in two shops, is materially more valuable at appraisal time than one who has stayed at one station.
Third, take on the visible improvement work. Kaizen suggestions, quality circles and small-group activity are formal, tracked processes at Japanese-influenced plants, and participation genuinely feeds into selection for supervisory grades.
Top Employers
Maruti Suzuki is the largest employer in Indian passenger vehicle manufacturing, but the skills transfer across the whole sector. Knowing the alternatives widens your options considerably.
Major Vehicle Manufacturers in India
- Maruti Suzuki — Haryana and Gujarat
- Tata Motors — Jamshedpur, Pune, Lucknow, Pantnagar, Dharwad, Sanand and Ranipet
- Hyundai Motor India — Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, and Talegaon, Maharashtra
- Mahindra & Mahindra — Chakan, Nashik, Kandivali, Zaheerabad and Haridwar
- Kia India — Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh
- Toyota Kirloskar Motor — Bidadi, Karnataka
- Honda Cars India — Tapukara, Rajasthan
- Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India — two-wheeler manufacturing across Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat
The Supplier Ecosystem
This is the part most job seekers overlook. Every assembly plant is surrounded by component manufacturers — seats, wiring harnesses, castings, plastics, brakes, glass — and they hire the same ITI trades in far greater numbers than the vehicle makers themselves.
The Kharkhoda site includes an integrated supplier park by design. If a direct application is not moving, applying to the tier-one suppliers around a plant is often the faster way in, and it builds relevant experience for a later move.
How to Apply to Maruti Suzuki
Applications go through the company’s own careers portal at marutisuzuki.com/corporate/careers, which lists separate tracks for freshers, all-India engineering hiring, experienced professionals and workmen hiring. The ITI-specific page sits under Join Us as Workmen Hiring.
Apprenticeship candidates should also register on the government’s National Apprenticeship portal, since apprenticeship engagements are recorded there.
How to Spot Fake Maruti Suzuki Job Offers
This section matters more than any other on this page. Maruti Suzuki publishes a fraudulent recruitment notice on its own website stating that it has not authorised any person to require any payment or cash deposit from any candidate, and that fake offers demanding deposits are made purely with intent to defraud.
Treat it as fraudulent if:
- Any fee is demanded — registration, security deposit, medical, training, uniform or file charges
- An offer letter arrives before any assessment or interview
- Contact comes only from a Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook address rather than a company domain
- You are asked to send Aadhaar, PAN or bank details over WhatsApp
- The message manufactures urgency — limited seats, apply before tonight
- A specific vacancy count and CTC is quoted that does not appear on the official portal
- The apply link is a Google Form, a Telegram channel or a shortened URL
Verify like this:
- Check the same opening on the official careers portal before responding to anything
- Use the company’s published verification channels — the recruitment email address and the toll-free number listed on its fraudulent recruitment page
- Remember that no genuine employer in India charges a candidate for a job
If money is demanded, report it on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call the cyber crime helpline 1930.

Future Industry Trends
Several shifts will change what these jobs look like over the next decade, and they point in a consistent direction.
Capacity Expansion on an Unusual Scale
Maruti Suzuki has stated a target of around 2.9 million units a year by FY2026-27, and Suzuki’s investor material describes an ambition of four million units annually after FY2030. Capacity on that scale requires people, and the two mega-sites carry official job-creation figures of 21,000 at Kharkhoda and over 12,000 direct at Khoraj.
For anyone entering the trade now, that is a genuinely favourable backdrop — but note that both projects run over several years, so hiring comes in phases rather than all at once.
Electrification
The e VITARA, Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, is manufactured in India at Hansalpur and was inaugurated in August 2025 alongside a battery electrode facility operated by a Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki joint venture. EV manufacturing changes the skill mix — less engine assembly, more high-voltage systems, battery handling and electrical safety.
High-voltage safety training is likely to become one of the more valuable additional certifications a plant technician can hold.
Automation and the Changing Skill Floor
New lines are being built with more automation than the ones they replace. Purely manual handling roles shrink; roles that involve operating, monitoring and troubleshooting automated equipment grow. An ITI trade plus basic digital literacy is becoming the entry floor rather than a differentiator.
Geographic Concentration
The investment is going into two specific corridors — Sonipat and Gurugram in Haryana, and Ahmedabad district in Gujarat. Candidates willing to relocate to those clusters have materially better prospects than those restricting their search to a home district elsewhere.

Maruti Suzuki has stated that the Kharkhoda project, with a projected total investment of ₹35,000 crore, is creating over 21,000 jobs. Hiring for a project of that size happens in phases as each plant is commissioned, and is advertised through the official portal.
Can a 12th pass candidate get a job at Maruti Suzuki plants?
The published criteria for the apprentice and workmen schemes require a Government ITI certificate, so a 12th pass alone does not meet them. Completing a one or two year ITI in an accepted trade is the realistic route in.
What is the selection process for Maruti Suzuki workmen hiring?
The company publishes it as an online assessment covering technical knowledge, aptitude and behaviour, followed by a personal interview with HR and a technical panel, antecedent verification, a pre-employment medical, joining and onboarding, and then induction and training.
Final Summary
Maruti Suzuki is the largest employer in Indian car manufacturing, with roughly 46,000 employees and workers across its Indian operations and two of the biggest plant investments in the country currently underway. For an ITI holder, it is one of the most accessible large-scale industrial employers in India.
What makes it unusually navigable is that the company publishes its criteria. Government ITI with NCVT or SCVT certification, age 18 to 23 for the apprentice scheme or 18 to 26 for workmen, a defined list of accepted trades, and a published six-stage selection process. There is no guesswork involved — you either meet the criteria or you work out what to fix.
Three decisions will shape your outcome. Get a Government ITI in one of the listed trades if you do not already hold one. Prepare seriously for the online assessment, since that is where most applications end. And treat conversion from apprentice or flexi status onto the permanent rolls as the real goal, because that is where pay, security and benefits change materially.
On geography, the opportunity is concentrated. Sonipat and Gurugram districts in Haryana and Ahmedabad district in Gujarat are where the money and the new capacity are going. Willingness to relocate to those clusters is worth more than any other single advantage a candidate can have.
Finally, apply only through the official careers portal. Maruti Suzuki states plainly that it authorises no payment from candidates, and any message demanding a fee — however official the letterhead looks — is a fraud. Verify before you pay anything, share any document, or travel anywhere.
